DEFINITION OF NEW MEDIA A catch-all term used for various kinds of electronic communications that are conceivable due to innovation in computer technology. A particular topic or subject area that a reporter covers. The phrase ββnew media ββ refers to computational media that share material online through computers. A communication technologies that unable or enhance interaction between users as well as interaction between user and content.
DEFINTION OF NEW MEDIA Refers to the use of computers, the internet, and smart phones as opposed to the more conventional forms of traditional media, which includes print, film, TV (televisions), and radio.
EXAMPLES: SOCIAL MEDIA- Centers on creating, sharing and exchanging information, ideas and content in online networks and communities. INTERNET- By using services such us email,social media,websites,internet -based television and radio,and more. B LOGS- Are personal websites were people write about their lives and thought on various topic. ADVERTISING- Refers to the use of digital channels and platforms to promote products,services,or brands.
EXAMPLES: VIDEO GAMES-Particular online gaming apps for mobile telephones and tablets. MOBILE APPS-Are software application installed on mobiles phones to help you with your day to day life,such as to help you navigate around a city, or present you with your news update . PODCASTS-This allowed people to create their own form of 21 st century radio shows and push them to fans around the world as soon as they were made available.
EXAMPLES: BROADCAST- Defined as different media channels or broadcasters such as television,internet,audio broadcast,video content and o thers. EMAIL-Sent and receive by your users at their normal email addresses,commencing with the time. PHOTOGRAPH- This refers to high-resolution pictures,such as scans of professional artwork and graphic designs created,stored and shared in digital format.
EXAMPLES: DIGITAL ART- This refers to art created with digital technologies that captures various concept with i mmersive experienses . DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY-Tools, systems and devices that can generate,creat store or process data. STREAMING MUSIC- The continual transmition of audio and video files and frpm a server to a client. SMART PHONES- A cellular telephone with an integrated computer and other features not originally associated with telephones.
ADVANTAGES: It provides easier access to information and allows for real time communication. It has large capacity Real time communication compared to the traditional media. Allows for more interactive and immediate communication between content creators and consumers. It help people stay connected and share ideas,thought,and opinions,with others in safe and secure environment.
ADVANTAGES: Anyone with an internet connection can have their beliefs and opinions, broadcast to a nyone around the world who want to listen. People can connect to people to share their interest from around the world. Who feel out of place among their friends from school can go online and connect with people who share their experiences. We can watch people from a distance and share our major achievement, milestones and life changes to stay in touch with people in our distant periphery.
ADVANTAGE: Consumers have instable apetite for news, so new media have pump out an ongoing stream of ever more sensationalize news articles.
DISADVANTAGE: FAKE NEWS- False stories that appear to be news, spread on the internet on using other media usually created to influence political views or as a joke. ADDICTION- Is when you have a strong physical or psychological need or urge to do something or we something . CYBER BULLYING- Including cyber-harassment, cyber stalking, cyber bullying and digital abuse.
