Yessy Venisia Yosaputra was born in Bandung, August 27,
1994 to Yohanes Yosaputra and Sumarni. Yessy started
her swimming hobby when she was five years old. At that
time she often followed her older sister who underwent
swimming therapy for treatment.

At the age of six, her parents enrolled Yessy in one of the
leading swimming clubs in Bandung, the Aquarius Swimming
Club. Yessy won third place in her first Horizon Cup 2001
championship. At that time she competed in the 100 meter
freestyle.

Yessy is known to be diligent in training
and always participates in matches even
though she does not always win first
place, but she is still practicing hard.
During training she began to learn
the backstroke and butterfly style,
just 13 years old Yessy began to
favor the backstroke number.
In 2007, Yessy won first place in the 100 meter backstroke age
group IV at the National Swimming Championships. The following
year, she participated in PON 2008 in East Kalimantan, at that time
she was quite successful by winning a silver medal in the 200
meter backstroke. Thanks to her achievements, Yessy was called
to join the national swimming team and prepared for the 2009 SEA
Games in Laos. Unfortunately, she did not go due to illness.

To treat her disappointment, Yessy began to train hard. In a
day, she could do 3-7 hours of training plus physical training
twice a week.
Yessy's hard training was finally not in vain, she won a silver
medal at the 2010 Asian Beach Games 10,000 meters in
Oman and won a gold medal in the 2011 SEA Games 200
meter backstroke, including breaking the record at that time.

At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Yessy had attracted the attention
of the Indonesian public. Unfortunately, she finished with a
time of 2.20.88 seconds and was 28th, so she failed to
advance to the next round in the 200-meter backstroke. Even
so, Yessy remains Indonesia's mainstay swimmer. At the
2017 SEA Games, Yessy managed to present a silver medal
in the 200 meter backstroke with a time of 2 minutes 18.19
seconds, only a few seconds adrift of the Vietnamese
swimmer who won the gold medal.
Her participation in international events is an important asset for
Yessy. She remains a mainstay female swimmer in other
tournaments and championships for Indonesia.
