OBJECTIVES Identify and explain the different school policies and their corresponding functions Appreciate the importance of following school policies in promoting order, discipline, and a safe learning environment Demonstrate responsible behavior by applying the school policies in real-life school situation.

INTRODUCTION

WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL POLICIES? Educational policies are rules that are intended to help schools teach students efficiently, fairly and safely as per the regulatory norms, and the Board to which the Institution is affiliated. These terms determine how students are taught, what they are taught, how schools manage students and its personnel.

SCHOOL POLICIES

ATTENDANCE POLICY Attendance is highly observed in schools. Having a lot of absences can cause academic failure. Function The purpose of the attendance policy is to encourage regular and consistent attendance and punctuality in school by all students. There is a high correlation between good attendance, academic achievement and successful every day work experience.

ANTI-BULLYING POLICY RA 10637 Schools have to make bullying prevention and anti-bullying education a priority. Function To ensure that all students learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment without fear of being bullied.

DRESS CODE POLICY Students have their own unique way of dressing, but when it comes to school, there are certain rules and restrictions. Function The purpose of a dress code is to provide guidance to students and parents as to appropriate attire for school and at any school function.

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY refers to programs, services, procedures and structures that are intended to prevent and respond to abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination and violence Function To ensure that the school takes every measure to ensure every child is healthy and safe.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY Prevention and preparation for reducing the risk of accidents and emergencies and minimizing harms when they do happen. Function Health and safety policy requires the school to assess risks and put in place proportionate control measures. The policy also requires it to record details of risk assessments, the measures taken to reduce these risks and expected outcomes.

PRIMARY CURRICULUM POLICY This policy describes the curriculum from year 1 to 6 and is supported by detailed syllabuses, schemes of work for each subject area and programme policies. Function Ensure that each pupil is stimulated and is committed to the process of learning. Identify pupil’s strengths, interests and talents and build upon them by challenging them appropriately.

SECONDARY CURRILUM POLICY This policy describes the curriculum from year 7 to 12 and is supported by detailed syllabuses, schemes of work for each subject area and programme policies. Function To ensure children grow into positive, responsible people who can work and cooperate with other while at the same time developing their knowledge and skills and achieve their true potential.

PRIMARY PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT POLICY Each of the personal developmental qualities and attributes will be encouraged and achieved through the following initiatives and opportunities. Function To promote the personal development of pupils in primary age. Development a child’s ability to be independent leadership, self discipline, presence, awareness, decency, and courage.

SECONDARY PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT POLICY Student must be taught and encouraged to think independently and to become self-reliant and develop their personality and morality. Function To develop and manage their physical and emotional well-being, and to live and work with others in different contexts

BEHAIVIOUR POLICY The school's behavior policy is therefore designed to support the way in which all members of the school can work together in a supportive way. Function To help children grow in a safe and secure environment, and to become positive, responsible and increasingly independent members of the school community. Encourage good behaviour , rather than merely deter anti-social behaviour .
