GROUP ACTIVITY: Social Media Audit

GROUP FORMATION: Divide the class into small groups, ensuring that each group has access to devices with internet connectivity. Assign each group a different social media platform to focus on: Group 1 (Instagram), Group 2 (TikTok), Group 3 (Twitter), Group 4 (Facebook), and Group 5 (YouTube).

AUDIT GUIDELINES: S pend 15-20 minutes exploring content related to sexuality on your assigned platform. T ake notes on the types of content you encounter, the messages conveyed, and any prevalent attitudes or themes.

Examples of social media content related to sexuality that students might encounter during a Social Media Audit:

Instagram : Fitness influencers promoting workouts for enhancing sexual performance. Fashion bloggers showcasing outfits for date nights or romantic occasions. Relationship advice accounts sharing tips on maintaining intimacy and communication in relationships. LGBTQ+ advocacy groups posting about pride events, awareness campaigns, and inclusive messaging. Memes and humorous content related to dating, relationships, and sexual experiences.

TikTok : Dance challenges with suggestive movements or themes related to romance and attraction. Educational content addressing topics such as consent, sexual health, and body positivity. Short skits or comedy videos exploring dating scenarios, awkward moments, or stereotypes related to sexuality. LGBTQ+ creators sharing personal stories, coming out experiences, and advocacy messages. Conducting the Audit : E xplore various hashtags, accounts, trending topics, and related features specific to your assigned platform. They may also search for keywords related to sexuality or browse through popular content creators' profiles.

Reconvene and Discussion : Each group should share their findings, highlighting the types of content they encountered, the prevalent attitudes or messages, and any notable observations. D iscuss how the content on each platform might influence attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors related to sexuality.
