How to Play Egyptian Rat Screw Playing Card Game
The Setup First thing is to get a standard deck of 52 cards Remove any Jokers if there are any Get into a circular formation at a table
The Setup Part 2 Then next designate who will deal the cards Have the dealer shuffle the deck thoroughly Then the dealer must deal out every card as evenly as possible to every player No peaking at the cards, dealer included The goal of this game is to collect all the cards in the deck
The First Step Each player holds their pile of cards face down The player to the right of the dealer goes first You have to flip the top cart out so you do not see it until it is placed into the center of the table (and are referred to as the pile) Then the player to their right does the same and it continues as such
Face Cards Ace, Jack, Queen, and King all have their own purpose that differs from the other cards If a face card is played the next player gets a certain number of tries to get another face card Ace gives 4 chances, King gives 3, Queen 2, and Jack only gives 1 If a face card is not placed within the allowed tries then the player who played the face card can collect the pile
Face Card Example Lets say you play a Queen, then the next player only gets two tries to get another face card They flip their first card and it is a number so they have to flip another card If the second card is another number you can take the pile and are one step closer to victory On the other hand if they play a face card, like a Jack, then it moves on to the next player Then that player gets one try since a Jack was played
Doubles Another mechanic that is in this game is the rule of doubles Doubles is when two of the same card are placed on top of one another For example a 2 of hearts is placed down and then a 2 of clubs is placed on top of it This is a double and the first person to slap their hand onto the pile can claim it as their own
Doubles Part 2 Doubles aren’t limited to number cards, it also works with face cards For example an Ace is played and the next player places an Ace immediately after Then the rule of doubles comes in and the first to slap the pile can claim it as theirs
Sandwich The final rule is the sandwich rule What a Sandwich is, is a Double split by another card An example would be a 4 of clubs is played, then a Jack of hearts, then a 4 of spades Normally the pile would go to the one who played the Jack but in this case it goes to the first one to touch the pile
Warning Be warned that this can be a fast paced game and can cause your hand to sting a bit
