How to Use Lot Number to Manage Group of Products in Odoo 17 Inventory

They help us ensure that products can be accurately tracked from production to distribution, and in the event of a recall or quality issue, they enable companies to pinpoint affected batches quickly and efficiently.

They help us ensure that products can be accurately tracked from production to distribution, and in the event of a recall or quality issue, they enable companies to pinpoint affected batches quickly and efficiently. This not only aids in maintaining product quality but also in ensuring consumer safety.

3. Enterprise Enable lots & serial numbers To track products using lots, enable the Lots & Serial Numbers feature. Go to the Inventory app ‣ Configuration ‣ Settings, scroll down to the Traceability section, and tick the checkbox next to Lots & Serial Numbers. Then, click Save.

5. Enterprise Track products by lots Once the Lots & Serial Numbers feature is activated, configure individual products to be tracked using lots. To do this, go to Inventory app ‣ Products ‣ Products, and choose a product to configure. On the product form, go to the Inventory tab. In the Traceability section, select the By Lots option in the Tracking field. Now, new or existing lot numbers can be assigned to newly-received or manufactured batches of this product.

7. Enterprise Assign lots for shipping and receiving After setting the tracebility function, create a purchase order with the selected product using the Purchase Module. Edit the order details, Add the Products, and confirm the order.

9. Enterprise Confirming the order will display a “ Receipt ” smart button as in the above scenario, we can open the “ Receipts ” dashboard and manually validate the order and products. Inside the validation form, we can use the menu found inside the “Operations” tab to generate customized Lot numbers as shown below.

14. Enterprise The product name and the demanded quantities will be displayed on the form. We can add the required number of Lot Numbers by clicking on the “Add a line” button provided in the “Lot/Serial Number” section manually, or we can generate new lot numbers using the “Import Lots” button.

16. Enterprise P rovided a Lot number for an easy demonstration. The Lot number LOT-001 will now be the lot number assigned to these products’ five quantities. Then click on the “Generate” button to generate lot numbers. Come back to the order configuration page, save the Lot numbers, and validate the order using the “Validate” button, we can view the “Traceability” smart button from the top of the form view to check the products by their lot number inside the “Receipts” page.
