REVIEW ARTICLE A review article is a text that contains the summary of scholarly research on certain topics It can be regarded as a summary or evaluation of someone else’s writing. Reviews are mostly summaries of research articles.

WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF REVIEW ARTICLE?

FORMAT OF REVIEW ARTICLE Title List of authors Abstract Introduction Body Conclusion References Acknowledgement

TITLE Title must contain 8-12 words It should be informative ,helping readers to decide whether they should read the text or not

LIST OF AUTHORS Declare intellectual ownership of work. Provide contact information The first author has done most of the research and written major parts of the article. Authors between first and last author have contributed in one way or the other to the success of the project.

ABSTRACT Abstract informs about the main objectives and result of the review article Usually it contains 200 to 250 words (NOTE = that you should not cite any reference in abstract ).

INTRODUCTION Introduction provides information about the context, indicates the motivation for review , defines the focus , the research questions and explains the text structure. Between 10 to 20% of the core text.

BODY Main part of review article contains: Methodological approaches Models or theories Extent of support for given studies that agree with another versus studies that disagree (Comparison) Geographical location It contains 70 to 90% of core text

CONCLUSION Answers the research questions set in the information Recommendations of the findings Interpretations by the authors (kept separate from factual information ) I dentification of unresolved questions 5 to 10% of core text

REFERENCES Shows interested readers how to find the literature mention in the text. Acknowledges the work of other scientists Compulsory to avoid charges of plagiarism A range between 50-100 references is in most cases appropriate

Expresses gratitude to funding organization and specifies the funding program (often required by funding agencies).
