HP POLICE CONSTABLE EXAM PATTERN & SYLLABUS 2024
The Male candidates applying for the post of Constables shall be admitted provisionally based on their claims made in the
online applications and the recruitment process shall consist of:
1. Physical Test: The Physical Test consisting of the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be
scheduled and conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department which will provide the list of qualified candidates
along with their marks awarded for Height to the Commission.
2. Written Test: Successful candidates of the Physical Test will be provisionally admitted to an offline multiple choice
objective type written examination of Two hours duration having a syllabus of 10+2 standard consisting of 90 marks
having negative marking, to be conducted by the Commission.
3. Evaluation & Document verification: Successful candidates of the Physical Test and Written Examination will be
shortlisted as per the zone of consideration for document verification to be carried out by the Police Department (They
will also award the marks of NCC certificates to the candidates during the document verification.)
4. Medical Examination: Medical Examination will be scheduled and conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Police
Department after receiving recommendations from the H.P. Public Service Commission.

HP POLICE CONSTABLE PHYSICAL STANDARD TEST (PST)
The marks shall be awarded only for height as per the following table:

HP POLICE CONSTABLE PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY OF CANDIDATES (PET):
Physical Efficiency Test will also be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department and will be qualifying alone as
per the following details:
Events Minimum Qualifying standard of Male candidates
1500 Meters Race. 5 Minutes 30 Seconds (No additional attempt is allowed)
High Jump 1.35 Meters (Maximum three attempts are allowed)
100 Meters Race 14 Seconds (No additional attempt is allowed)
Broad Jump 4 Meters (Maximum three attempts are allowed)

RESULT OF PHYSICAL TESTS:
After the conduct of physical tests i.e. PST and PET, the Police Department shall provide the list of candidates qualified in the
physical tests along with marks awarded for height to each candidate to the Police Department. The original record of these
physical tests shall be kept by the Police Department.

ENGLISH GRAMMAR: -
 English Grammar is a crucial section of
the Police Constable Exam. It evaluates a

adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and
interjections. Tenses are another

form. Active and Passive Voice assesses
the candidate’s ability to transform

 The Reasoning section in the Police
Constable Exam is designed to test a

they must find the odd one out. Series

 Himachal Pradesh General Knowledge
(Himachal GK) is an important section for
the Police Constable Exam in the state,

kingdoms, rulers, and the formation of
the state in 1971. Candidates are expected

 Note: There shall be negative marking

1. For each question for which a wrong
answer has been given by the candidate,
one-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to
that question will be deducted as
a penalty.
2. If a candidate gives more than one
answer, it will be treated as a wrong
answer even if one of the given answers
happens to be correct and there will be
the same penalty as above for that
question also i.e. fourth (0.25) of the
marks assigned to that question will be
deducted as penalty.
3. If a question is left blank i.e. no circle is
blackened by the candidate, there will be
the same penalty as above for that
question also i.e. fourth (0.25) of the
marks assigned to that question will be
deducted as a penalty.
4. Where there are two correct answers
instead of one correct answer out of four
options of a question, all those candidates
who will blacken any one of these two
correct answers will be awarded marks
allotted to that question.

DOCUMENT VERIFICATION:
The Police Department after receipt of lists containing the zone of consideration of candidates provided by the Commission
will carry out the document verification of such candidates falling in the zone of consideration, on the scheduled days, to
verify their eligibility as per claims made by them in their online applications. Police Department will award marks for NCC
Certificates duly issued by the competent authority as per Rule 12 of R&P Rules:
