Human impact on the environment includes deforestation, pollution (air, water, waste), habitat destruction, resource depletion, and climate change driven by fossil fuel>> consumption and other activities. These effects lead to biodiversity loss, soil erosion, poor air and water quality, and shifts in global temperatures and weather patterns.

HUMAN IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT Prepared by: Ms. Mariann Joy Tanilon
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Describe how human activities affect the environment, suggest ways to minimize human impact on the environment, discuss different methods of environmental conservation and their impact on sustainability, and At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:

Deforestation
Pollution
Waste
The adverse effects caused by development, industrial, or by the release of a substances is the environment or by any other human activity. What is human impact on the environment means?
FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO ENVIRONMENTAL LOSS ARE: DEFORESTATION, OVER-POPULATION POLLUTION OVERUSE/WASTAGE OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DEFORESTATION Deforestation is caused by tree cutting for agriculture and urbanization. Impact: habitat loss, decreased biodiversity, disruption of the water cycle.
OVERPOPULATION Overpopulation occurs when the number of people exceeds the resources available to sustain them. This leads to increased demand for food, water, land, and energy, putting pressure on natural ecosystems. Impact: Shortages of food, clean water, and healthcare services
POLLUTION Pollution comes in many forms, including air, water, soil, and noise pollution, all of which negatively affect ecosystems and human health. Main sources of pollution: vehicle emissions, factories, industrial waste. Effects: respiratory diseases, ecosystem damage, climate change.
CLIMATE CHANGE Climate change is caused by greenhouse gases and fossil fuel combustion. Effects include extreme weather, rising sea levels, and threats to species.
WASTE AND RECYCLING Types of waste Organic Inorganic Hazardous Tips: reduce plastic use, choose recyclable products.
Let’s watch a video
PERSONAL ACTIONS Conserve energy and water at home. Support products and companies committed to sustainability. Choose environmentally-friendly transportation.
COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENT ROLES Community programs: environmental clean-ups, tree planting. Government policies: environmental regulations, incentives for renewable energy.
CONCLUSION AND NEXT STEP Protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that requires action from individuals, communities, and governments. Every small step, such as reducing pollution, conserving energy, and supporting environmental policies, can make a significant difference. Let’s commit to protecting our planet for a better future. Join the effort to preserve the environment and be part of the solution!
