It is understandable why many people are afraid of the future. The fact that nobody has the ability to see into the future brings a lot of uncertainties, if not anxiety.
Thank God He is with us. We can walk with certainly knowing that He will remain faithful. He is the Good Shepherd, who will lead us to a place where we can experience His peace and abundance. Because He knows the future. He knows exactly where to direct us.
Below are the lyric of the song, “Shepherd of My Soul,” which was adapted from Psalm 23. As ypu read this, reflect on the security our Great Shepherd Jesus Christ provides. Shepherd of My Soul By Martin Nystrom, 1986 Maranatha! Music Shepherd of my soul, I give you full control Wherever You may lead, I will follow I have made a choice to listen for Your voice Wherever You may lead, I will go
Be it in a quiet pasture or by a gentle stream The Shepherd of my soul is by my side Should I face a mighty mountain Or a valley dark and deep The shepherd of my soul will be my guide.
What is the greatest sacrifice you have ever made for somebody you really loved?
React: “He who has God has everything; he who has everything but God has nothing.” -St. Augustine
1. Jesus is the Good Shepherd ‘I am the Good Shepherd.” John 10:11 “The Lord is my Shepherd…”Psalm 23:1 The shepherd analogy provides a vivid picture of a caring Shepherd who is not only responsible for feeding His flock, but also leads them to abundant life. We should not fail to see that abundant life here is reflected not just because the Shepherd leads the flock to green pastures, but simply because the Shepherd abides with His flock.
As the Good Shepherd, He stays and provides security for His flock. He has committed to abide with us in order to guide us in every step we take and to protect us against harm and trouble that might come along the way.
2. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, makes all heavenly resources available to us. The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want.” Psalm 23:1 “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. :”Philippians 4:19
The richness of Christian experience is in abiding. If you have the source, do you still need more? If you are guided by someone who knows the location of the best and the greenest pastures, would you still need something else in your life? If He can guide you through the “valley of the shadow of death,” do you still need to be afraid?
With Christ as our Shepherd we will surely lack no good thing. He has all of heaven’s resources at Hid disposal.
3. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, laid down His life for us. “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. I am the Good Shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.” John 10:11,14
With Jesus comes protection because He shields us from the enemy. He is concerned with the welfare of His sheep. When the devil threatens to steal, kill, and destroy His sheep, He positions Himself to fight for them, even risking His own life.
4. Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Deserves our obedience and our trust. It is crucial for every sheep to learn to recognize the voice of the shepherd. Failing to do so might entail great danger. It is believed that most sheep are dumb enough to fail to recognize the voice of their shepherd. It is also believed that sheep are easily distracted, so they get lost when they do not pay attention to the voice of the shepherd.
If we invite Jesus to shepherd us, we must learn to trust that He will not lead us to harm. We must train ourselves to recognize His voice and to obey His commands.
PINOY KASI! ” Bahala Na!” (“Come what may!”) Whenever we launched out into something uncertain, we often use the expression “ bahala na !” This expression embodies the resilience of many Filipinos who can adapt to any situation. It also reflects our willingness to take risks and face daunting challenges. On the negative, this can reflect a lack of planning, stemming from a highly fatalistic mindset.
