Main Components of an IC Engine:
Intake Valve
Combustion Chamber
Piston
Connecting Rod
Crank Shaft
Spark Plug
Exhaust Valve
valve

The valve which controls the flow of inlet fuel into the
combustion chamber is called the inlet valve.
A Combustion Chamber is the area within the Cylinder where
the fuel/air mix is ignited.
It has a reciprocating motion and converts heat energy into
mechanical power. The purpose of the piston is to stand the
expansion of gases and send it to the crankshaft.
Connecting Rod
It connects the piston to the crankshaft. Together with the
crank, the connecting rod converts the reciprocating motion
of the piston into the rotation of the crankshaft.

Crank Shaft
The crankshaft is responsible for converting a linear motion to
a rotational motion. Crankshafts should have very high fatigue
strength and wear resistance to ensure long service life.
Spark Plug (Petrol IC Engine)
A device that has two electrodes separated by an air gap,
across which current from a high-tension ignition system
discharges, to form a spark for igniting the air–fuel mixture.
Fuel Injector (Diesel IC Engine)
It is an electrically or mechanically controlled device which is used to
inject/spray (just like a syringe) the fuel into the engine to create a
efficient air/fuel mixture.
Exhaust Valve
The valve that releases the exhaust gases such as CO2, NOx
