Principle of icrp Three fundamental principle on radiation protection JUSTIFICATION Any decision that alters the radiation exposure should do more good than harm .
OPTIMIZATION. “Doses should all be kept as low as reasonably achievable , taking into account economic and societal factors ”. DOSE LIMIT. “The total dose to any individual … should not exceed the appropriate limits ”.
Who runs it and how it works? ICRP an international organization M ore than two hundred volunteers. F rom thirty countries on six continents . R epresent the world's leading scientists and policy makers in the field of radiological protection.
How it developed? ICRP developed , maintained, and elaborated the International System of Radiological Protection That used world-wide as the common basis for radiological protection standards, legislation, guidelines, programs, and practice .
Continued. The International System of Radiological Protection developed by ICRP based on ( i ) the current understanding of the science of radiation exposures and effects . (ii) value judgments . These value judgments take into account to society, ethics, and experience gained in application of the system
Exposure categories and situations Categories of exposure and exposure situations are used to consider how best to approach radiological protection in different circumstances .
