2. Beatrice Culleton Mosionier  (born 1949) is a Canadian  Métis author. She is most notable for her novel  In Search of April Raintree . The Métis are Canadian people of mixed blood, Indian and white . April Raintree, a twenty-four-year old Métis woman, tells her story and her younger sister Cheryl.

5. CHERYL She has dark skin taking father’s background and bloodline. She is proud of her native ancestry. She used to keep up her tradition. Wants to earn her livelihood and helping aborginals but realizes thet her efforts are pointless. Cheryl learns that her father was alcoholic and mother commited suicide. This destroy her confidence over her Metis identity. She becomes prostitute and alcoholic. She commit suicide.

6. Minor Characters April’s Mom : She gives birth to her third child Anna. She commit suicide by jumping off the Louis Bridge. Bob Radcliff :- He is April’s husband. He has affair with another woman. Dions :- foster parents of April. She experiences happy life in Dions family. De Rosiers :- After death of Mrs Dion, April is taken to De Rosiers family where experiences torture both mentally and physically. Mac Adams :- They are foster parents of Cheryl. They teach her to be proud of her heritage.

7. Henry :- He is son of Cheryl. She consider him as burden. After death of Cheryl, he is adopted by April. Jerry :- He was lover of April. Later she learned that he is married and ended their relationship. Roger :- He is lawyer worked with April.
