INTRODUCTION
What dictates the way we interact with the world
and the people around us is the type of personality
we have. Do you know your personality type? The
Enneagram is one of the models of human
personality, which shows that people can be
categorized in 8 PERSONALITIES. Each one of us falls
into a type, based on our dominant characteristic,
but we can also have the traits of other types. The
Enneagram model has been used in business to
match an applicant to a job requirement, develop
team building, and improve leadership. It has also
been used in spiritual circles as a path to self-
understanding. The Enneagram is a straightforward
way of understanding a person’s behavior, based on
his dominant characteristics.
Type 1 – The Reformer / Idealist
The Reformers are principled, conscientious and
moralist in nature. They are idealistic, and are
usually hard on themselves, and on other people.
They hold everyone, including themselves, to high
standards. They are self-disciplined, dedicated,
responsible, and level-headed. Reformers are
often successful because they get a lot of things
done in the right way. A sense of purpose drives
their thoughts and actions. They have very strong
internal critics which call attention to, and correct
wrong behavior. Their major intention is to reform
any organization or society they are situated.
Type 2 – The Helper / Caregiver
The Helpers are generous, warm,
demonstrative, and genuinely love
being with people. They have lot of
friends, and people enjoy having them
around due to their enthusiastic and
fun-loving nature. They are sensitive
and perceptive to other people’s
needs, and can always be counted on
to lend a helping hand. They live to
please other people.
Type 3 – The Achiever / Performer
The Achiever, as the name suggests,
likes to set goals and hit targets. They
are the success-oriented, image-
conscious driven people. They are
always excellent at everything that
they do. They are the self-assured
people at work. Often, they are role-
models who inspire other people.
They respect and give lot of value on
other people’s opinion.
Type 4 – The Individualist / Romantic
The Individualists or Romantics are the
sensitive and temperamental type. They
strive to be uniquely themselves, and spend
much time thinking of how things could be.
They are self-aware, and experience
emotions on a deeper level. Often involved
in activities that require creativity and
expression. Mind you, their internal agenda
is to win at all situations without minding
the extent of the win.
Type 5 – The Loyalist / Skeptic
The Loyalist or Skeptic are the committed
but security-conscious type. How are these
characteristics related? They are very loyal
to friends and family, once they’re certain
that they can be trusted. They’re ready to
think the worst. They doubt most things,
and require proof that their suspicions are
baseless before they feel reassured enough
to let down their guard. They feel that they
need to be watchful in order to protect
themselves and those they are loyal to.
Type 6 – The Enthusiast / Adventurer
The Enthusiast or Adventurer is the
spontaneous, fun-loving people.
They love engaging in enjoyable
pursuits, and are often in an upbeat
mood. They seek pleasure and avoid
negative things at all cost. They find
it challenging to commit to one
thing.
Type 7 - The Challenger / Warrior
The Challenger or Warrior is the strong and
dominating people. They are natural leaders, self-
confident and assertive. This Alpha-type
personality depends on no one, and never shows
signs of vulnerability. They use their strength to
protect those who are closer to them, and will not
hesitate to take charge of any situation. They
intend to be masters of their own fate, and prefer
to control people and circumstances, instead of
the other way around. They are honest and
straightforward to the point of bluntness. They
are also more confrontative and show their
anger more easily.
Type 8 – The Peacemaker
The Peacemaker is the complacent
and agreeable type. Confrontations
and arguments are situations they
avoid like the plague. They love to
connect with people and nature,
but only in an atmosphere of peace
and harmony. They are non-
judgmental, and people enjoy their
warm and supportive company.
