INTRODUCTION www.reallygreatsite.com Pakistan heavily dependent on agriculture, is highly vulnerable to climate change-related disasters like floods and droughts. The National Climate Change Policy was introduced in 2012 to address this issue. Pakistan have witnessed many natural calamities such as floods, droughts and ample of other natural calamities. These occurring of natural calamities are causing many social, environmental and economic issues for Pakistan and also for the region. The flood occurred in Pakistan in 2010 had affected more than 20 million people directly or indirectly and flood occurred in 2012 was even more fatal and destructive.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK The green theory, proposed by Robert E. Goodin, critiques capitalist economies for their exploitative practices, emphasizing the ecological perspective of human development and the need for global cooperation to address environmental crises and climate change, highlighting the interconnectedness of ecological issues.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE • To Analyzing global climate change and its catastrophic damages. • To Evaluating core causes of climate change in Pakistan. • To Examining government policy, management, and public awareness. • To Explaining social-economic, environmental implications of climate change.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS The following are the research questions: What are the main factors of Climate change in the World? What are the role of the Global Institutions and concerned Government measures to control the Climate disaster? What strategies Pakistan should adopt in order to counter the severe implications of the climate change?
Significance of the Study The significance of the study is divided into to two broad categories, the one practical applicability and the second is the theoretical significance . This study is significant for policymakers (Government) and social workers (NGOs) to take measures regarding climate change is one of the most serious threats for the human beings. Theoretically the study is significant because it will be helpful for the research scholars of academia Political Science and a new addition into the literature.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY This study is qualitative in nature. S econdary data is collected from research articles , books and reports. Content analysis technique was utilized for analysis.
FINDINGS OF THE STUDY Climate change is a serious threat to human existence and has led to an increase in natural calamities. Pakistan, being an agricultural nation, is vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Flooding and other natural calamities have negative effects on Pakistan's agricultural sector and economy.
FINDINGS OF THE STUDY Climate change also has social implications, including health issues, water and food shortage, and economic inequality.
RECOMMENDATIONS Implement climate-smart agriculture (CSA) initiatives in Pakistan to enhance agricultural development and climate adaptability, improving output and resilience while reducing greenhouse emissions. Prioritize research and development of heat-resistant, drought-tolerant, and pest-resistant crops and livestock in different agro-ecological zones in Pakistan.
Integrate information technology, GIS techniques, and remote sensing in agriculture to enhance input efficiency and gather accurate data for optimal cropping patterns. Invest in research and development for technological improvements in industries to reduce emissions, design financial incentive schemes, and promote corporate social responsibility for emission reduction. Conclusion Pakistan faces a critical concern due to climate change, affecting its agriculture sector and food security. The Montreal Protocol and other international treaties have played a crucial role in addressing this issue. Pakistan is formulating a National Adaptation Plan, prioritizing nature-based solutions, water security, and healthcare improvements. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the issue, necessitating further investment and action.
