Over the soughing of the sombre wind
the present poem offers a few pictureswhich are by no means interconnected,
though they are all supposed to be pictures of the phenomenon which are
supposed to occur in this country.
First is the picture of a mourning wind blowing and producing moaning sounds.

Priests chant louder than ever.the mouth of India opens

Crocodiles move into deeper waters.!

Mornings of heated middens smoke under the sun.

He good wife lies on my bedthrough the long afternoon-dreaming still,
not exhausted by the deep roar of funeral pyres
