5.1. VALUE CHAIN ANALYSIS (2/2)
The industrial network market's value chain comprises several stakeholders, including hardware, software, infrastructure
providers, system integration solutions, network providers, and service and maintenance companies.
The infrastructure providers hold a significant share in the value chain of the Industrial network market as they are responsible
for providing IoT infrastructures such as supply chain management, emergency and incident management, predictive
maintenance, condition monitoring, industrial communication, process control & discrete control, security & surveillance and
many others.
System integration and hardware is the most important stage of the value chain for the industrial network that provides
enterprises with a connected infrastructure for robust system connectivity and better application interoperability. SI solution
and service providers assist in the enterprise’s digital transformation initiatives through end-to-end integration of
applications, databases, and workflows. Further, all the hardware for providing an industrial network is provided in this stage.
Wireless access points (WAP), routers, network controllers, network interface cards (NIC), wireless bridges, and wireless clients
among others are the most important hardware.
The next step is the software integrated with the industrial network. The software assures smooth and efficient functions of
devices that are connected to the network. Some of the latest software is coupled with AI and ML. This would automatically
monitor the system and run troubleshooting in case there is a malfunction throughout the value chain. Further, the software is
essential for the management of the industrial network. Moreover, the software also provides insight into the people who are
operating equipment and assets connected to the network. The insights can further help in taking business decisions.
Network service providers provide services such as network access and bandwidth by allowing access into its backbone
infrastructure or access to its network access points (NAP), which consequently also means access to the Internet. AT&T,
Deutsche Telekom, and China Telecom are some of the major network service providers across the globe.
The last section of the industrial network includes service and maintenance. Some of the components in this stage include
network design, deployment & upgradation, support & maintenance among others.
