contents INTRODUCTION SIGNIFICANCE OF INDUSTRIAL HAZARDS OBJECTIVES OF INDUSTRIAL SAFETY FOUR E’s OF SAFETY TYPES OF INDUSTRIAL HAZARDS SAFETY TOOLS AND EQUIPMENTS IMPORTANCE CONCLUSION REFERENCE
INDUSTRIAL HAZARDS Industrial Hazard may be defined as any damage to any persons life, cause an injury, loss of product or property while present at the workplace of the Industry .
Safety management Safety Management is about protecting your organization against undesired outcomes and helps to prevent not just incidents and accidents, but financial inefficiencies and losses too.
Significance of Industrial Safety Industrial causes a great loss to both the Employer & Employee, that’s it is having importance Cost of compensation Cost of medical-aid Cost of investigation Cost of spoilage of materials Cost of the damage of machinery.
Objectives of Industrial Safety To prevent accidents in the plant by reducing the hazard to minimum. To eliminate accident caused work stoppage and lost production. To prevent loss of life, permanent disability and the loss of income of worker by eliminating causes of accidents.
Four E's of Safety Engineering: i.e. safety at the design, equipment installation stage. Education: i.e. education of employees in safe practices. Enlistment: i.e. it concerns the attitude of the employees and management towards the programmed and its purpose. This necessary arose the interest of employees in accident prevention and safety consciousness. Encouragement: i.e. to enforce adherence to safe rules and practices.
TYPES OF INDUSTRIAL HAZARDS
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS CAUSES Electrical systems that are overloaded, resulting in hot wiring or connections. Electrical wiring in poor condition. PREVENTIVE MEASURES Maintaining proper fire exits and proper exit signage (e.g., exit signs pointing to them that can function in a power failure). Each and every section of the industry should have fire extinguisher
SAFETY MEASURES Fire extinguisher Types of fire extinguisher Water fire extinguisher Foam fire extinguisher co 2 fire extinguisher
ELECTRICAL HAZARDS CAUSES The improper use of electrical equipment, such as cables and power cords An overloaded circuit The improper joints of two wires . PREVENTIONS Use extension cords only for temporary purposes . Don't overload outlets. Indication of DANGER SIGN at every high voltage terminal. Proper maintenance of wiring and equipment.
MECHANICAL HAZARDS ROTATING AND MACHINERY C auses Machinery with rotating parts can catch loose clothing, hands or hair, potentially causing serious injuries. Prevention Ensure rotating shafts, belts and pulleys are covered by guards, lids or covers. Tools Causes Careless use of tools or use of tools in poor condition can cause injuries to the hands, eyes, head and limbs . Prevention regularly check tools for defects or damage
IMPORTANCE ( Why safety is required in Industry.) To avoid accidents or incidents Protection of Environment Protection of human life And also avoid economic loss ACCIDENT INCIDENT
SAFETY IS EFFICIENCY Safety Management = Risk Management Risk Control Cost Control Cost Control Efficiency Efficiency = Productivity Productivity = Profit
Conclusion The Industrial Safety Management is a very important aspect in Industries to decrease the risk factor of employees life and which also helps in reduced cost and increased productivity. So measures should be taken and a team should be employed to monitor if all the safety guidelines are followed properly or not . “Be Aware, Be Alert & Be Alive”
