About This Presentation

A SMALL PRESENTATION ON INTRODUCTION TO MEMS BASED INERTIAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM WITH GPS

Slide Content

Navigation System
TM

Introduction
What is Inertial Navigation System?
Definition
Navigation system based on acceleration and rotation
speed measurements that provides in real time
information of speed and position of vehicle together
with heading and attitude (roll/pitch)

Strap-down Inertial Navigation System
-3 axis accelerometers and 3 axis angular rate gyros
are fixed with vehicle giving instantaneous
acceleration and rotation rate of the vehicle
-Integration of acceleration gives position and speed
-Integration of angular rate gives attitude (roll, pitch,
heading)

Compensated Navigation Parameters

Problems with MEMS sensors
- Sensor Noise
- Sensor Bias
- Drift because of Temperature
- Need redundant sensor to
compensate the errors
