COMPANY PROFILE HINDUSTAN AERONAUTICAL LIMITED Th e Hindustan Aerocraft company was incorporated on 23 Dec 1940 at Bangalore by Shri Walchand Hirachand . The company is engaged in design, development and manufacture of military and civil aircraft. Here integrated air borne platforms are also developed and serviced. OVERHAUL DIVISION BANGALORE Overhaul Division, one of oldest Divison of HAL was established in December 1940, has been involved from early days in the growth of aircraft industry in India.
ABSTRACT The main objective of this is to give a short introduction on the Hindustan Aeronautics limited. Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC), one of the nine R&D centres of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The centre has extensive state of art test facilities and full-fledged manufacturing infrastructure for building aircraft prototype and test articles. When there are no fighter aircrafts for the wing section of the Indian Navy and Indian air force the LCA TEJAS stood in the section of Combat.
TASK PERFORMED OBSERVE + LEARN + QUESTION Observe and implement my theoretical knowledge practically. Analyse production, service rate, material planning etc.
DEPARTMENT VISITED FUSELAGE WING AND EMPENAGE ELECTRICAL AND AVIONICS FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM
FUSELAGE Fuselage, or body of the airplane, is a long hollow tube which holds all the pieces of an airplane together. The fuselage is hollow to reduce weight. A supersonic fighter plane has a very slender, streamlined fuselage to reduce the drag associated with high speed flight. For a fighter plane, the cockpit is normally on top of the fuselage, weapons are carried on the wings, and the engines and fuel are placed at the rear of the fuselage.
WING AND EMPENNAGE WING Air foils attached to each side of the fuselage Main lifting surfaces Various design and size and shape May be attached at the top, middle, or lower portion of the fuselage EMENNAGE Attached on the rear pf the fuselage is the tail group called the empennage. The movable surfaces includes radder , elevator and or more trim tabs.
ELECTRICAL AND AVIONICS Avionics is the application of electrical and electronic systems to aircraft and spacecraft. Depending on their purpose, all spacecraft involve a number of electrical and electronic systems and instrumentation. They are like the nervous system of a spacecraft. These systems include power, communication, navigation, guidance, thermal management and other control systems .
FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM The flight control system (FCS) in an aircraft provides the basic interface between the pilot and the aircraft’s control surfaces. This interface is the pilot’s most direct means of flying the aircraft and is also used by higher-level control systems such as the autopilot and flight management system. Traditionally, FCSs have not been avionics systems but rather mechanical or hydraulic systems.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM In aircrafts, an environmental control system (ECS) of an aircraft is an essential component which provides air supply, thermal control and cabin pressurization for the crew and passengers. Additional functions include the cooling of avionics, smoke detection, and fire suppression.
MATERIAL USED IN AIRCRAFT Some specific types of cast iron used are: White cast iron, Grey cast iron, Chilled cast iron, Malleable iron Steel is another component which is used widely, it is divided into sub-categories on the basis of carbon present. Demands for cast iron rises of versality especially in regard of strength , resistance to corrosion, easy machining ability to take good casting impression etc Manganese, Silicon, Sulphur, Phosphorous are the other material. High alloy steel : Stainless steel, Heat resistant Steel. Non Ferrous Alloys : Dur-alumina, Cartbridge Brass.

REFLECTIONS Astonished how the machine/instrument work factors may affect the next successive level. Despite being a reputed industry, I feel there are lot of improvements to be done Vast knowledge in the field of engineering fields are to be learnt a lot
CONCLUSIONS Understanding the depth of each topic during internship unearths doubts and reasoning abilities which provokes me to go further. The way nature forces to interact with aircraft within and around it gives a marvellous harmony behind science. Finally I felt proud to complete my intern in HAL- Aircraft Divisions.
