What is Blowdown Valve (BDV)? It is used in the process of removal of a certain quantity of contaminated water from the boiler. The function of a blowdown valve is to control the concentrations of suspended & total dissolved solids (TDS) in the boiler.

Blowdown valves play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of various industrial systems, particularly in steam boilers. These valves are designed to release or "blow down" water and impurities from the boiler to maintain optimal operating conditions and ensure the safety and efficiency of the system. Types of BDV Continuous Blowdown (CBD) Valve Intermittent Blowdown (IBD) Valve CBD is mounted at the water level of boiler drum. Hence it is called SURFACE BLOWDOWN. IBD is mounted at the bottom of boiler drum. Hence it is called BOTTOM BLOWDOWN It is SINGLE step trim. It is MULTIPLE step trim. It is in continuous operation hence inching duty is preferred IBD is operated after intervals of time hence ON-OFF duty is preferred

USPs of IndiTech BDVs IndiTech Continuous Blowdown Valve (CBD) is an angle type valve with a needle shaped trim in a venturi diffuser. The venturi diffuser provides sufficient area for the high velocity flashing water, thereby avoiding choked flow. IndiTech Intermittent Blowdown Valve (IBD) carries out both these functions in sequence i.e. blowdown in open position and sealing in closed position. This is achieved by providing a multi-step throttling plug, which splits the total pressure drop across each step. The sealing area is separate from the throttling area, which reduces erosion and provides leak tightness even after prolonged usage.
