The Polar  Coordinate System  uses the distance between points (length or magnitude) and the angle (direction or vector). The Cartesian (rectangular)  Coordinate System  uses the “x” distance (left/right) and the “y” distance (up/down).

Basic Draw Commands CIRCLE:  Draws circles of any size. Command:  Circle (enter) 3P/2P/TTR/<center point>:  (pick a center point) Diameter or <Radius>:  (Pick a point on the circle ) LINE:  Draws straight lines between two points Command:  LINE (enter) From Point:  (pick a point using the mouse) To Point:  (Pick a point using the mouse) To Point:  (Press return to end the command ) 21/05/2018 11 ARC:  Draws an arc (any part of a circle or curve) through three known points. Command:  ARC (enter) Center/ < Start point > :  (pick the first point on the arc) Center/End/ < Second point > :   C Center:  (pick the arc’s center point) Angle/Length of chord/ <End point > :  (pick the arc endpoint) Drawing Commands

Display Commands LIMITS:  Sets the size of the drawing paper.  For size “A” drawing paper the limits should be set for                                               10.5 x Command:  LIMITS (enter) On/Off/Lower left corner <0.0000> (enter) Upper right corner: 10.5,8 (enter) ZOOM:  Enlarges or reduces the display of a drawing. Command:  ZOOM (enter) All/Center/Dynamic/Extents/Left/Previous/ Vmax /Window/<Scale(x/XP)>: (pick a point to define one corner of a rectangular viewing window then pick a point to define                 the second point to define the opposite diagonal corner of the viewing window) Note:  To return the picture to its original viewing size enter  ALL  and press the enter key when prompted instead of defining a window. 21/05/2018 12 PAN:           A llows you to move your view point around the drawing without changing the magnification                 factor. The modify tools (from left to right): Erase, Copy, Mirror, Offset, Array, Move, Rotate, Scale, Stretch, Lengthen, Trim, Extend, Break at point, Break, Chamfer, Fillet, Explode 21/05/2018 13 Modifying Commands Erase - Select this button then a drawing element to erase it permanently from the drawing. Copy - The copy command will copy any selected drawing elements and reposition where specified by the user, without affecting the original elements. Mirror - The mirror command will create a mirror image of any selected drawing elements along any line of symmetry specified by the user.

Offset -Offset will make a copy of a line or series of selected lines by a specified distance in the direction specified . Array -The array command quickly creates copies of a selected object(s) to a specified spacing.. 21/05/2018 14 Modifying Commands Contd ….

Modifying Commands Contd. Polar Array- Move: The move command works exactly the same as the copy command described above, except instead of creating a copy of the selected objects, the second objects are moved. 21/05/2018 15

21/05/2018 16 Rotate - The rotate command rotates any selected objects about a defined point by the angle specified. Scale: The scale command scales the size of a selected object(s) by a defined scale factor from a selected base point. Extend: The lengthen command will lengthen a selected line . Trim : The trim command is an extremely useful tool which will erase all parts of an object beyond or within its intersection with another object. Modifying Commands Contd …….

Modifying Commands Contd ……. Break: The break at point command enables the user to break an object at a specific point, creating two separate objects. 21/05/2018 17 Chamfer: The chamfer command will chamfer the intersection of two lines to a specified distance.
