Introducing Jesus Christ- Humphskytholikos WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
Introducing Jesus Christ-Humphskytholikos Christ, the Incarnate Word and the only Begotten Son of God, He is the Second Person of the Trinity, Lord and Savior and is true God and true man. Suffered, died, resurrected, ascended into Heaven and will come again to judge the world.
Introducing Jesus Christ-Humphskytholikos HE IS JESUS The name Jesus means "God saves". The child born of the Virgin Mary is called Jesus, "for he will save his people from their sins" (Mt 1:21): "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). CCC 452
Introducing Jesus Christ-Humphskytholikos HE IS THE CHRIST The title "Christ" means "Anointed One" (Messiah). Jesus is the Christ, for "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power" (Acts 10:38). He was the one "who is to come" (Lk 7:19), the object of "the hope of Israel" (Acts 28:20). CCC 453
Introducing Jesus Christ-Humphskytholikos HE IS THE SON OF GOD The title "Son of God" signifies the unique and eternal relationship of Jesus Christ to God his Father: he is the only Son of the Father (cf. Jn 1:14, 18; 3:16, 18); he is God himself (cf. Jn 1:1). To be a Christian, one must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (cf. Acts 8:37; 1 Jn 2:23). CCC 454
Introducing Jesus Christ-Humphskytholikos HE IS LORD The title "Lord" indicates divine sovereignty. To confess or invoke Jesus as Lord is to believe in his divinity. "No one can say 'Jesus is Lord' except by the Holy Spirit'" (1 Cor 12:3). CCC 455

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 “But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. At the Council of Chalcedon (A.D. 451) the Church declared that the two natures of Christ are joined "in one person and one hypostasis" ( Denzinger 302), where hypostasis means one substance. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1,14 (Phil. 2:5-8) “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh , Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16
Introducing Jesus Christ-Humphskytholikos Kenosis: Self-emptying “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Who, though he was in the form of God , did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, instead, he emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:6-8
