ABSTRACT Recent trend is the development of Smart homes all around the world. Home automation has become very affordable and many people, industries has started to automate daily routines like light, fans, setting the temperature, etc.The main objective of the project is to build a Gas leakage detector using LPG gas sensor and also connect it with IoT using ESP module for safety and security. Arduino is used as the main controller. The final output of the project is used to detect leakage if gas from cylinders and also notify the user by connecting via IoT software.
INTRODUCTION It has become important factor nowadays to bring the technology into our home and office. By making the place smart, the day-to-day activities are becoming more and easier. The development of home automation has become mandatory in homes as people are moving towards to the smart home concepts. With the help of assistant systems like ‘Okay Google’, ‘Alexa’ and ‘SIRI”, the normal routine activities like turning ON the light can be implemented with just a single voice command. With these comforts flowing into a person’s life, it has become essential to protect it from damages and accidents. This is where ‘Internet of things (IoT)’ comes into picture. As only the regular works has become smart, the things used are still the same like Gas cylinder in homes. According to the reports, over 1500 LPG accidents happen in every day. This is equivalent to the death of 1500 people including the children. Even the neighborhood is affected in a single accident. So there comes the need to bring in technology to prevent accidents. IoT is a fast-growing technology in Industries, Cars.
OBJECTIVES To layout and acquire a project “LPG Leakage Detector using Arduino with SMS Alert and Sound Alarm”. To layout and acquire project that will perceive gas outflow like Methane leak, Butane leak, and LPG leak, Methane outflow or any such petroleum centered on gaseous substance that can be discovered using MQ5 device. To layout and set up an SMS centered Alert method send SMS alert missives to restrict mobile number enter inside the Arduino program. to layout and acquire a project that will fabricate a sound alarm during gas outflow and rest the alarm once gas outflow is regulated show status in an LCD using a 16×2 LCD component and to rest the gas supply using Solenoid controller.
METHODOLOGY This technique is very easy to apprehend and utilize. The simplicity of this technique also makes it simpler to accomplish. This Model is based on the relationship of a testing stage for each corresponding improvement level. This means that for every single segment in the improvement drive, there is a directly correlated testing phase. This is a highly-restricted model and the next stage starts only after the end of the previous phase.

Features In this LPG gas detector system senses the LPG gas using MQ5 gas sensor. This device will continuously monitor the level of LPG gas present in the air. While monitoring, if the value of LPG gas in air is within the set limit then the RGB LED on the circuit will glow green giving a safe sign.
Advantages IOT and Arduino based LPG leakage detection system can be installed in Homes, Hotels, LPG Cylinder storage areas. this project is that it can determine the leakage and send the data on phone. it can help in saving the loss of lives and property. we can add Smoke and Fire Detectors to detect fire.
LIMITATION notices Methane leak, Butane leak, and LPG leak, or any such petroleum centered gaseous material. Generate Sound Alarm when gas outflow is noticed. Transmit SMS Alert to consent person. Displaying gas outflow status that signifies if the gas is in normal stage or not. Automatic closure of gas source using solenoid controller .
CONCLUSION This system provides a control action during gas leakage by closing the solenoid valve. And it activates the alarm and also sends alert messages to the users within a short time. It is an economical system which can be installed in apartments, hotels and wherever it is needed. The cost of the proposed system is lesser than the commercially available detectors in the market. It can help us to prevent from accidents in all directions. There are some products available which are similar to this gas leakage detector but those are not cost efficient and doesn’t have any safety mechanisms. If this product becomes commercial, it will overcome all demerits of other similar products.
