SUBJECT: Budget Amendment for General Fund Operating Budget Fiscal Year 2025

SUMMARY
An Ordinance amending the Adopted General Fund Operating Budget Fiscal Year 2025 to
Transfer Out funds to the Comprehensive Fund for the Recycled Water Design, to the Capital
Projects Fund for the Pool Light Pole Replacement, and to the Solid Waste Department for
additional garbage carts for a total up to $87,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The city estimates that it will have a positive ending amount in the General Fund of
approximately $1,091,731. The ordinance will amend the budget to transfer out/reallocate from
the General Fund an additional amount for a total of up to $55,000 in operating account 10-542-
8600 and $32,000 in operating account 10-532-6155.

POLICY ANALYSIS
The estimated funds for the transfer are available in the General Fund and it is financially sound
to commit funds for community projects and capital replacement.

FISCAL IMPACT
This ordinance will amend the transfer from the General Fund by an additional amount up to
$55,000 for the Capital Projects Fund and adding an additional $32,000 to the Solid Waste
Department (General Fund).

ORDINANCE NO. 2247

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ADOPTED GENERAL FUND
OPERATING BUDGET FISCAL YEAR 2025 FOR TRANSFERS OUT TO
THE CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND AND THE SOLID WASTE
DEPARTMENT FOR A TOTAL UP TO $87,000 AND SET AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.

WHEREAS, the City of Alamo Heights adopted the General Fund Operating Budget on
August 26, 2024, for Fiscal Year 2025 by Ordinance No. 2226; and

WHEREAS, the City of Alamo Heights is projecting a positive year-end balance of
$1,091,731 in the General Fund; and wishes to commit a portion of those funds before the end of
Fiscal Year 2025; and

WHEREAS, City Staff recommends using some of the positive fund balance for transfers
to the Capital Projects Fund in the amount of $55,000 for the Pool Light Pole Replacement and
reappropriating $32,000 to the Solid Waste Department for additional Garbage Carts; and

WHEREAS, this budget amendment will provide funding for the Capital Projects Fund
and the Solid Waste Department; and

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMO HEIGHTS, TEXAS, that the adopted operating budget for Fiscal Year 2025 is
amended to include additional transfers out from account 10-542-8600 to the Capital Projects Fund
for $55,000 and account 10-532-6155 for $32,000 to the Solid Waste Department. The current
budget adopted by Ordinance No. 2226 is amended to reflect this budget amendment. This
Ordinance shall be effective upon approval by the City Council.
