F LOOD WARNING AND MONITORING SYSTEM (FWMS) Student Name Roll No V.SOWRINATHA REDDY 202P1A0495 Under the Guidance of K.CHANDRA SEKHAR M.Tech Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology Vidya Nagar, Proddatur , YSR Kadapa (Dist.), Andhra Pradesh 516360

Content Abstract Existing System Existing System disadvantages Proposed System Proposed System advantages Tools Used

Aim : To Test and Evaluate the following methods in FWMS There are three tests have been conducted for this project. The following are the tests that were performed : Functionality test Prototype system test GSM network performance test

Existing System Existing System: River Gauges : These were simple instruments placed along rivers to measure water levels. By regularly checking these gauges, authorities could estimate if water levels were rising, indicating a potential flood. Rain Gauges : Monitoring rainfall was crucial, as heavy rainfall often leads to flooding. Rain gauges were used to measure the amount of rain that had fallen in a particular area, helping predict flood risks. Weather Observations : People would observe weather patterns, such as persistent heavy rain or the approach of a tropical storm, to predict potential flooding. Communication with Observers : In some cases, communities relied on local observers who would report changes in water levels or weather conditions to authorities, helping them prepare for floods. Historical Data : Knowledge of past floods and their patterns was often used to predict future flooding events. This was especially important in areas prone to seasonal flooding.

Existing System disadvantages Existing System disadvantages: Reliance on Manual Labor : Monitoring river and rain gauges, as well as weather observations, required a significant amount of manual labor. This made the process time-consuming and less efficient. Limited Accuracy : The accuracy of predictions was limited by the availability and reliability of data. Manual measurements and observations were prone to errors and could be affected by human bias or oversight. Limited Scope : Old monitoring systems were often localized, focusing on specific rivers or regions. This limited their ability to provide a comprehensive view of flood risks across a larger area. Lack of Timely Information : Due to the reliance on manual data collection and communication, information about flood risks could be delayed. This made it challenging to take timely action to mitigate the impact of floods.

Proposed System Proposed System : A personal flood warning and monitoring system using GSM technology (FWMS) is developed for any residents who live in the flood-prone areas in order to help them stay alert with the flood water level during monsoon season. This system will be able to call the user whenever the flood water level has reached over dangerous level and transmits accurate warning messages to the user via short message service (SMS). The system measures the real-time flood water level at the floodplain areas and the user has the ability to monitor the flood water level for monitoring purpose. In addition, the user will get a real-time warning message when the flood water is rising rapidly. Proposed System Block Diagram(If have):

Proposed System Advantages Proposed System Advantages : Improved Efficiency: FWMS can help optimize routes, reduce idle time, and improve fuel efficiency, leading to cost savings and better resource utilization. Enhanced Safety: These systems often include features like driver behavior monitoring, real-time tracking, and maintenance alerts, which can improve driver safety and reduce accidents. Better Compliance: FWMS can help businesses comply with regulatory requirements related to vehicle maintenance, driver hours, and more, reducing the risk of fines or penalties. Asset Protection: Real-time tracking and monitoring can help protect vehicles from theft and unauthorized use, improving asset security.

Required Tools Required Tools: The main hardware components used in this project are Arduino Uno Ultrasonic Sensor Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) GSM SIM900A Module Piezo buzzer alarm. SOFTWARE/HARDWARE: Arduino IDE
