SORGHUM(Sorghum bicolor L.): ORIGIN: Warth (1937) was the opinion that it was originated in India and Africa. De Candolle said that it was originated in Africa. It is believed to originate from North East of Africa or Abyssinia.
DISTRIBUTION: Sorghum is grown in all parts of the world except cool North east part of Europe. In the world, Africa is the major continent cultivates sorghum and Asian continents , North America and South America also cultivates sorghum. In India, mainly on central and peninsular India such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat are important states cultivating sorghum.
