Koha Cataloguing MODULE

introduction of Koha The name of the ILS become Koha from a term called “Māori” which means a “gift ” or “donation ”. The ILS is developed at a modern platform and is a web- based solution for the libraries. Koha uses SQL database.

To enter Koha ILMS and to use Koha modules, librarian of particular library which is accessing Koha, has to login to Koha . Koha login

Modules of Koha

Cataloguing Module The cataloguing module of Koha allows adding new bibliographic record to Koha. These records can be added to Koha through data entry or copy cataloguing. New records creates a black template for entering the tags and it requires choosing the framework which defines the base of the record. It also allows adding a new records through Z39.50 to import the record by clicking the caret .

This tab use to MARC management : The cataloguing module provides several frameworks which help in cataloguing for books, monographs, e-resources, serials, periodicals, etc . Z39.50 option allows searching with various fields like Title , Author , ISBN , ISSN , LC Call Number , Subject Heading , Control Number, Dewey number , Raw and Standard ID.

This framework is use to make catalogues of Books, eBooks, Booklets, and Workbooks. Further slides are based on Book Cataloguing

Book Framework: several entries are here, but every library use these entry according to their need. Like to enter a book detail library will use: 000, 008, 020, 082, 100, 245, 250, 260, 300, 700, 942 etc.

Filled Entries at framework 9, because entries on framework 4 to 8 are not useable here. Most of the time all the entries are shows on a single framework page after modified according to library.

After completed the framework entry, it has to save.

After save the entry this frame will appear. This frame is to fill date of acquiring , Barcodes/accession number, add, add & duplicate and add multiple copies of item. This could be seen in further two slides.

These tabulator keys are describe on next slide.

It use to add saved entry with barcode/accession number . Sometime it is required to create a duplicate of similar record, so it requires editing the necessary information to create a record. It can be easily done by clicking on this add & duplicate. I t use to make multiple copies of saved entry. User can add multiple of copies on saved entry by entre accession/barcode number of saved entry, system will automatic generate continues barcode/accession number.

After added entry here user can see the completed Item.

Duplicate Items

Action: this facilitated user to update existing item by edit, duplicate and print level, delete, OPC view of item.

Cataloguing view: details can be exhibit in normal format MARC format and in other formats available at left side.

Normal view: it shows item in normal view with options of New (direct to new framework), Edit, Save, Add to, Print.
