Pasang Surut : Fenomena Penting dalam Ekosistem WPLPPK Department of Environmental Science Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Science Halu Oleo University , Kendari 2021 EKOSISTEM WILAYAH PESISIR & PULAU-PULAU KECIL Achmad Fuad Fathurrahman
KARAKTERISTIK PASANG SURUT Long-period waves rolling around the planet as the ocean is "pulled" back and forth by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun as these bodies interact with the Earth in their monthly and yearly orbits. https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/springtide.html
KARAKTERISTIK PASANG SURUT Simple Cycle Sea level rises over several hours, covering the intertidal zone; flood tide . The water rises to its highest level, reaching high tide . Sea level falls over several hours, revealing the intertidal zone; ebb tide . The water stops falling, reaching low tide . https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/tutorial_tides/tides01_intro.html
KARAKTERISTIK PASANG SURUT Tidal Level Highest astronomical tide (HAT) – The highest tide which can be predicted to occur. (Note: may add extra height to the HAT). Mean high water springs (MHWS) – The average HEIGHT of the HIGH WATERS of SPRING TIDES above Chart Datum. Mean high water neaps (MHWN) – The average HEIGHT of the HIGH WATERS of NEAP TIDES above Chart Datum. Mean sea level (MSL) – The average level of the sea surface over a long period/the average level which would exist in the absence of tides. https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/tutorial_tides/tides01_intro.html
KARAKTERISTIK PASANG SURUT Tidal Level Mean low water neaps (MLWN) – The average HEIGHT of the LOW WATERS of NEAP TIDES above Chart Datum. Mean low water springs (MLWS) The average HEIGHT of all LOW WATERS of SPRING TIDES above Chart Datum. Lowest astronomical tide (LAT) and Chart datum (CD) – The lowest tide which can be predicted to occur. Some charts use this as the chart datum. (Note: water may fall lower than this, meaning that there is less water than shown on charts). https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/tutorial_tides/tides01_intro.html
KONSTITUEN To Note: Earth's rotation The position of the Moon and Sun relative to the Earth The Moon's altitude (elevation) above the Earth's Equator Bathymetry
KONSTITUEN Types of Tides: Spring tide—popularly known as a "King Tide"—refers to the 'springing forth' of the tide during new and full moon. Neap tide—seven days after a spring tide—refers to a period of moderate tides when the sun and moon are at right angles to each other.
KONSTITUEN Patterns of Tides: Diurnal – one high and low tide each day Semi-diurnal – two high and low tides each day Mixed – two high and low tides each day of different heights Special Case (Indonesia, Mixed) Mixed, prevailing diurnal Mixed, prevailing semi-diurnal

4. ASPEK BIOLOGI PASANG SURUT
ASPEK BIOLOGI Intertidal Ecology Study the ecosystem and interactions between intertidal organisms and their environment, as well as among the different species.
ASPEK BIOLOGI FUN FACTS (ADAPTATION) Plentiful sunlight, which helps intertidal plant life grow quickly, can also rapidly dry up precious moisture and increase the water temperature. Waves that bring in much-needed nutrients and moisture can also carry unprotected animals out to sea. As the tides rise and fall, the salinity (salt concentration) constantly changes. Animals living in the intertidal zone must be able to tolerate wide salinity variations. If sufficient nutrients are available, intertidal animals reproduce rapidly, so they constantly compete for space, light, and food. Animals are also exposed to predators while the tide is out. https://seaworld.org/animals/ecosystems/tide-pools/intertidal-ecology/
POTENSI ENERGI Using the power of the tides, energy is produced from the gravitational pull from both the moon and the sun, which pulls water upwards, while the Earth’s rotational and gravitational power pulls water down, thus creating high and low tides.
POTENSI ENERGI Advantages: clean and compact continuous, predictable energy longevity of equipment https://www.power-technology.com/features/tidal-energy-advantages-and-disadvantages/
POTENSI ENERGI Disadvantages: Lack of research the impact of EMF emissions high construction costs https://www.power-technology.com/features/tidal-energy-advantages-and-disadvantages/
