Countable & Uncoutable Nouns Here is where our presentation begins
Understanding about countable nouns 01
Countable Nouns Countable nouns are used for something that we can count using numbers. This noun has a singular and plural form. The singular form can use the clothing word "a" or "an". If you want to ask for the number of countable nouns, you ask How many followed by plural nouns that can be counted . Single Plural One dog Two dogs One horse Two horses One man Two mans One idea Two ideas One shop Two shops
Example of countable nouns She has three dogs (Dia memiliki 3 anjing ) I own a house (Saya memiliki sebuah rumah ) I would like two books please (Saya menyukai dua buku itu , mohon ) How many friends do you have? ( Berapa banyak teman yang kamu miliki ?)
Understanding about uncountable nouns 02
Uncountable nouns Example: Uncountable noun Uncountable noun is used for something that we cannot count using numbers. These words include names for abstract ideas or properties or physical objects that are too small to count or shapeless (liquids, powders, gases, etc.). Uncountable nouns are used with singular verbs. These nouns usually do not have a plural form Tea Sugar Water Rice Beauty Love Money
We cannot use a/an for these nouns. To express the number of uncountable nouns, use words or expressions such as some, a lot of, much, a bit of, and a great deal of or use precise measurements such as a cup of, a bag of, 1kg of, 1L of, a handful of, a pinch of, an hour of, and a day of. If you want to ask for the number of uncountable nouns, you ask How much? Example: There has been a lot of research into the causes of this disease ( sudah banyak penelitian tentang penyakit ini ) He gave me a great deal of advice before my interview ( dia memberi saya banyak nasihat sebelum saya wawancara ) Can you give me some information about uncountable nouns? ( bisakah kamu memberikan saya informasi tentang uncountable nouns?) He did not have much sugar left ( dia tidak memiliki banyak gula yang tersisa )
Complicated nouns Some nouns can be counted in other languages, but cannot be counted in English. These nouns should follow the rules for uncountable nouns. Some words that are often used are: accommodation, advice, baggage, behavior, bread, furniture, information, luggage, news, progress, traffic, travel, trouble, weather, and work. Example: I would like to give you some advice ( saya ingin memberi kamu beberapa saran) How much bread should I bring? ( berapa banyak roti yang harus saya bawa ?) I didn’t make much progress today ( saya tidak membuat banyak kemajuan hari ini ) This looks like a lot of trouble to me ( ini terlihat seperti masalah bagiku )
