OBJECTIVES The researchers aim to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment of Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining at Buhawen , San Marcelino, Zambales
OBJECTIVES to provide awareness for the community, help Local Government Unit for policy recommendations, and establish bioremediation protocols in reducing heavy metal exposure towards resilient communities.
OBJECTIVES Specifically, it aims to identify and characterize the heavy metals present in the soil and surface water bodies within the area, assess the toxicity of the pollutants, and identify the environmental impacts of the small-scale mining.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS AND POTENTIAL IMPACTS
Identified heavy metals present in the soil and bodies of water in the three small-scale gold mining sites at Barangay Buhawen and their toxicity level.
serve as baseline report to: conduct bioremediation studies, established mitigation programs, and create plans for proper waste disposal
This study will help policy makers to review the existing laws and orders regarding artisanal and small-scale gold mining in the community in the country.
The result of this study will help Local Government Unit in enforcing and implementing laws regarding the artisanal and small-scale gold mining especially on the proper waste disposal.
The result of this study will encouraged students and other youth groups in the community to conduct awareness symposiums.
Community will be informed of the evident impacts, risks and hazards of the artisanal and small-scale gold mining in the different areas such as environment, health, and socio-economic.
The findings of this study will call for actions intended to help the mining communities in the formalization of the ASGM sector.
