Logic is a system of reasoning that aims to draw valid conclusions based on given information . Fallacy is an idea which many people believe to be true, but which is in fact false because it is based on incorrect information or reasoning.

Do you believe in everything that you see and read in the social media? On TV? Can you give an example of a statement which you are in doubt to believe? Example: Sleeping with your wet hair makes you blind. What is your realization about it?

Objectives: Recognize Faulty logic, Unsupported fact, and Emotional appeal; Present outputs showing faulty logic, unsupported facts, and emotional appeal; and Show self-reliance when working independently.

What’s Wrong? Directions: In your group, read your statement aloud and show your point either We believe or We don’t believe . Then, defend your answer in 2 minutes only.

(with pictures) Group 1 : Penguins are black and white. Some old TV shows are black and white. Therefore, some penguins are old tv shows.   Group 2 : All cats have four legs. I have four legs. Therefore, I am a cat.   Group 3 : People died of cancer before cigarettes were invented. So, smoking doesn’t cause cancer.   Group 4 : All dogs have four legs. All tables have four legs. All dogs are tables.

LOGICAL FALLACIES 3 kinds: Faulty logic Unsupported Fact Emotional Appeal

Faulty Logic is a conclusion that is based on unsound argument or is drawn from not enough information. Example: Rey got the highest grade in Science because he was the teacher’s favorite. Unsupported fact is a statement claimed by an individual or group that is unable to provide sufficient evidence to support their claims. Example: Trigonometry is the most difficult subject. Emotional appeal uses emotions as the basis of an argument’s position without factual evidence. Example: Rose doesn’t want to eat her meal, but her mom told her to think of the starving people who do not have to eat.
