Louis Theroux

Background Information Born : 20 th May 1970 British broadcaster He lives in Harlesden, London with his wife, Nancy Strang, a TV director, and his two sons. C areer started off in journalism and bears influences of notable writers in his family such as his father, Paul Theroux and brother Marcel Theroux. W ent to Magdalen College, Oxford where he gained a first class degree in modern history and was noted for his film reviews for the Grapevine magazine. His first journalism job was at Metro Silicon Valley. In 1992 he was hired as a writer for Spy magazine. When TV Nation ended he was signed to a development deal by the BBC, which started the series Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends.

Documentary Style Louis Theroux is best known for making reflexive documentaries,. He is known for his controversial method of reflexive film-making, he is found in-front of the camera. Sometimes he makes observational documentaries where he takes part in a particular activity so he can get a more detailed understanding of the subject he is documenting on. However he doesn’t get emotionally attached to the subject.
