4.Abstraction The activity that we had has
something to do with the
discussion this afternoon; the
scenarios that you presented
shows what and why
communication occurs. When
communication involves two or
more people, it refers to
interpersonal communication.
This kind of communication
involves the exchange of
messages, ideas, and
information between
individuals. This can take
many forms, including face-to-
face conversations, phone
calls, emails, and video
conferences.
In this lesson, you will learn
about the different
interpersonal communication
situations.
Let us first define interpersonal
communication.
So, what is interpersonal
communication?
In addition to that,
interpersonal communication is
not only presented or used in
English, all learning areas use
this kind of communication.
Especially the ESP subject –
this subject also taught the
students to express their
thoughts, feelings, and needs
with other people by
expressing or sharing their
own ideas and experiences. It
allows the students to engage
and socialize with others and
build strong relationships with

them.
Interpersonal communication
has three forms, and they
are…
Let us have the first form…
What is a conversation?
When we say conversation,
that is a form of
communication that we could
say happened accidentally or
unintentionally.

What are the different
examples of conversation
situations?
The second form is dialog, so
what is dialog?
A dialog is somewhat of a
serious form of
communication, wherein
before you talk to someone,
you think about your idea first
and have a purpose. Unlike in
conversation, which is
momentarily.
Examples of this are…
Conversation, Dialog, and Interview.
Conversation is the most common
form of dyadic communication. It
may be defined as a friendly and
usual informal talk between two
people who exchange their views
and ideas.
friends talking about various
topics
siblings recalling fond
memories
 passengers talking in bus
stations and waiting sheds
children playing in the
playground
family buying at the shopping
malls
A dialog is the most personal and
most intimate form of dyadic
communication. In some ways
similar to a conversation but is more
intimate and purposive. It could be a
written or spoken exchange of ideas
between two or more people.
a student and his/her parent
talking about school matter
a husband and a wife talking
about family finances
chatting on the phone with a
classmate about a project
arguing with a friend on the
merits of a movie

How about the third form…
What is an interview?
What are the examples?
How does communication
occur in various situations?
Do you think communication is
significant to our daily lives?

In our daily lives, communication
helps us build relationships by
allowing us to share our
experiences and needs and by
helping us connect to others. It's
the essence of life, allowing us to
express feelings, pass on
information, and share thoughts.
We all need to communicate.
Is that clear?
comforting a friend who has
just lost his mother
An interview is a form of
dyadic communication that is
considered a two-way process
where both parties alternately talk
and listen. It is a conversation with a
purpose which aims to help the
interviewee to understand.
Moreover, an interview is a formal
and purposive consultation. In this
communication situation, the
interviewer’s objective is to obtain
specific pieces of information from
the interviewee.
employment screening
creating stories
counselling
receiving complaints
writing articles
Ma’am, a communication situation
occurs when two or more people or
groups interact, either through
physical means (face to face
meetings, phone calls, etc.) or
through the use of technology such
as emails, instant messages, or
social media platforms.
Yes, ma’am because through
communication, I could be able to
share my thoughts.
Yes, ma’am.
5.Application Now, I will group the class into
three.
Each group will be given a
corresponding task.
