Lyricist Shannon Sawyer

What is a Lyricist? Lyricists also known as wordsmiths, write original song lyrics or play around with the lyrics of a previously created song. They collaborate with singers and other songwriters and such.

What a lyricist does? A lyricist creates lyrics for a song. They write the words that go with the music in songs. They play cleverly with words to make sure it is interesting to listen to. They are mostly very poetic people.

Lyricist guidelines. The guidelines vary from song to song as well as the artist who is singing it. But they all have the same general needs, is it interesting enough to keep the listeners interested? Does it put the message across correctly? Is the title catchy?

Why become a lyricist? Most people become lyricist to help get out there ideas. If you enjoy straight forward writing or playing with words, the job is good for you. It’s a very good job for poetic people. And sometimes people even move on to write the music as well.

How much do Lyricists make? Lyricists make an average of $81k a year. Not to mention some lyric jobs they probably get paid based on the song and who its for.
