3. Madhuban Dam, located near Rakholi village in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, close to
Valsad district in Gujarat, was constructed in 1972 across the Damanganga River. It was built primarily to
address water scarcity in the surrounding tribal and drought-prone regions. Before the dam's construction,
the area faced frequent agricultural failures due to irregular rainfall and lack of reliable irrigation. The
Madhuban Dam plays a vital role in supplying water for irrigation, drinking, and industrial use across
southern Gujarat and the nearby union territory.
