COVER CODES AND CONVENTIONS

MASTHEAD Capitalised first letter of each word Follows an abstract flow/pattern Central at the top third of the page Fierce, bold text in a striking red font Capitalised first letter of each word Italic slant  Depth with white outline an black shadow Central at the top of the page Capitalised , yet soft font White, with an apparent shadow on some covers Positioned in the top left of the page Large in a 'square-er'/taller proportion Lower case but impactful due to size and white font Font is fitting to the name Central at the top of the page Combination of on the top and bottom layer Taller proportion Grey shadow adding dimension to white text   Capitalised

MOJO Masthead repeated in the same colour as the text, central top position, smaller than the cover. Followed by the magazine locations below. Issue number and date below in their own section, spaced off by a 'dotted' line. Features and the page number in same coloured font. Features titled by artist names and a small paragraph of information about them. Their cover story is always at the end of the magazine, spaced off by another dotted line, artist name titled below 'COVER STORY'. A quote from the cover page artist in a large, different font, along with their name and page number of the rest of their story again. Artist image from the same cover shoot repeated on the right of the page/center of the magazine. Page number in the bottom right with the magazine name repeated again, in the same text colour again.

ROLLING STONE Continues the Rolling Stone's 'newspaper' news element outside of just music, makes the contents page feel very traditional Margin outlined by a thin black line Red top for the title 'CONTENTS' Followed by the magazine name again and the issue's date They use three images in every contents page, one being slightly more portrait, one landscape and one slightly squarer Features, National Affairs, Departments, On The Cover Issue date repeated in the bottom right Point to action of website in the bottom left

NME One large picture on each page linking to the cover and where to find more information on them. Includes features, every month, news, radar, reviews, live, Advert at the bottom of the page of one side Black background to red and white text with repeated magazine name and 'contents' in the same font.

KERRANG! Section of images labelled to locate the content specifically with a visual element Magazine name and contents heading, with a smaller font next to it indicating the issue number and cover date Feedback, News, With, Live reviews, Posters, Features, Reviews, Gig guide, The K! Quiz – posters are a common feature in magazines targeted to younger audiences A signed write in and photo with a paragraph from the editor Quite busy and flashy with lots going on on the page Linking advert in the bottom right of the page Sneak peak of further contents through images, about 3 artist shots
