Group work 1 Spot the difference Activity 1

Meenakshi is leading a group of employees at a call center. On Tuesday, she received a call from the head office that her team has to achieve a target of 500 calls by Friday. However, due to the tight deadline and her workload, Meenakshi gives the responsibility to one of her team members without clearly communicating the expectations and priorities. As a result, the team fails to achieve the desired goals and a few of them are asked to leave the company. 1. What is the problem in this scenario The problem in this scenario is the lack of clear communication and delegation of responsibilities by Meenakshi , which led to the team failing to achieve the target and some members facing consequences. Scenario 1 Activity 2

2. What could be the root cause of the problem The root cause of the problem could be Meenakshi’s failure to communicate. Expectations effectively, delegate tasks clearly, and provide proper guidance to the team member she assigned the responsibility to. This lack of clear communication and direction likely resulted in confusion, inefficiency, and ultimately, the team’s failure to meet the goal.

3.If you were in meenashki’s position , What would you have done differently? Explain the steps you would take If I were in meenashki’s position, I would have taken the following steps ; 1. Clearly communicate the target, expectations, and priorities to the team member assigned the responsibility.
2. Provide necessary support, guidance, and resources to help the team member succeed in achieving the target. 3. Conduct periodic team meetings to ensure everyone is on the same page, address any issues, and motivate the team towards the goal.
4. Take responsibility for the outcome as a leader and work collaboratively with the team to find solutions and improve performance in the future

Senario 2 Rahul is a part of a team where two of the members are having a conflict with each other. This causes tension for the rest of the team members and affects everyone’s productivity. 1. What is the problem in this scenario The problem in this scenario is the conflict between two team members, which is causing tension among the rest of the team and impacting overall productivity.

2. What could be the root cause of the problem? The root cause of the problem could be various reasons such as miscommunication, differing work styles, personality clashes, unresolved issues, or misunderstandings between the two team members. The conflict might also stem from a lack of clear roles and responsibilities, unresolved past issues, competition for recognition or differing work styles. Understanding the root cause is essential for finding a solution.

3. If you were in Rahul’s position, what would you do? If I in Rahul’s position, I would try to address the conflict by:
1. Talking to each team member individually to understand their perspectives and concerns.
2. Facilitating a calm and respectful discussion between the two members to help them express their views and find common ground
3. Encouraging open communication, active listening, and empathy towards each other’s viewpoints.
4. Seeking a mutually agreeable solution or compromise that respects both parties’ needs and fosters a more harmonious working Relationship.

Scenario 3 Neha works at a retail company that is preparing to launch a new product but the project got stopped due to lack of resources and budget limitations. She was in the team that was launching the product and the project manager asked her to suggest a way to deliver the product within the limited resources and budget. 1. What is the problem in this scenario.? The problem in this scenario is that the project to launch the new product has been halted due to insufficient resources and budget constraints. Neha has been tasked with finding a way to deliver the product within these limitations.

2. Using the problem-solving skills you learned this week, identify some ways Neha can solve this problem. To solve this problem, Neha can consider the following problem-solving approaches:
- Conduct a thorough analysis of the current resources and budget available.
- Prioritize the essential aspects of the product launch and identify areas where cost-cutting measures can be implemented without compromising quality.
- Explore alternative resources or cost-effective solutions that can help in delivering the product within the limitations.
- Collaborate with the project team to brainstorm innovative ideas and strategies to optimize resource utilization and minimize expenses.
- Communicate effectively with the project manager and stakeholders to present a well-thought-out plan that outlines how the product can be successfully launched within the constraints.
