OUTLINE Types of Maintenance Service Plan Maintenance Plan Schedule Service types, causes and maintenance

TYPES OF MAINTENANCE (before a failure) (after a failure)

Types of Maintenance (Preventive Maintenance) Time Based Maintenance (TBM) Replacing or renewing an item to restore its reliability at a fixed time, interval or usage Task : Scheduled overhaul Objective : Restore or replace regardless of condition Failure Finding Maintenance (FFM) Detecting hidden failures typically associated with protective functions Task : Functional test Objective : Determine if hidden failure has occurred

Types of Maintenance (Preventive Maintenance) Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) Not all the failure is age related, most failure give some sort of warning that they are in the process of occurring or are about to occur Task : measurement of condition Objective : restore or replace based on a measured condition compared to a defined standard Fig : p-f curve

Types of Maintenance (Preventive Maintenance) Predictive Maintenance (PM) Maintenance that incorporates predictive analytics with the use of both real-time and historical data that forecast activity, behavior, and faults that might hamper vehicles if not corrected in real time Uses data from ECUs to predict Remaining Useful Life (RUL) of the components

Types of Maintenance (Corrective Maintenance) Deferred Corrective Maintenance Deferred maintenance is the practice of postponing maintenance of redundant or non-critical asset  Causes : cost, inaccessibility, unavailable parts, Emergency Maintenance (EM) Maintenance family where a vehicle had an unexpected failure of a part required to keep it running Task type : repair/replace Immediate intervention required and is the most expensive maintenance type World Class organizations ensure that less than 2% of their total maintenance is Emergency Maintenance Experts recommend that your balance of Preventive vs Corrective maintenance should be 80/20

SERVICE PLAN A Service Plan helps you keep your vehicle on the road by making sure its recommended scheduled services are taken care of by approved dealers, making worrying about car servicing something from the past. Offers you a convenient way of budgeting so that you can spend less time worrying about your car service and more time enjoying the open road. SERVICE PLAN INCLUDES……. Replaceable items on a car that are predetermined by the manufacturer to keep a car running perfectly such as Oil, air filters, spark plugs , cam belts, brake fluid, Coolant.

COVERAGE OF SERVICE PLAN It covers the cost of regular services on four wheelers as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. It pays for the servicing of a vehicle either on an annual basis or according to the vehicle manufacturer's mileage requirements. Labour is also covered in a service plan.

BENEFITS OF A SERVICE PLAN Car servicing can be expensive, but Service Plan comes with the following benefits: Provides peace of mind that your car servicing is taken care of Includes original equipment manufacturer (OEM) required services Fixed, affordable monthly cost for car servicing Qualified technicians Genuine parts A Service Plan, helps to maximize the resale value of your car.

MAINTENANCE PLANNING What? process of determining  what maintenance  work should be done and how it should be carried out. Why? For more effective and efficient maintenance operations resulting high quality operations. To achieve organizational objectives: Availability, Reliability, quality and delivery dates How? Capacity planning Maintenance scheduling

CAPACITY PLANNING What? The determination of the maintenance resources need to meet the maintenance load. Manpower(numbers and skills),overtime capacity, contract maintenance How? Maintenance forecasting

MAINTENANCE PLANNING PRINCIPLE Protect the planner Focus on future work Component-level files Use planner judgement for time estimates Recognize the skill of techs Measure performance with work sampling

BASIC GOAL OF MAINTENANCE PLAN Maintain vehicles in safe operating condition. Ensure each vehicle is operating at peak efficiency. Maximize vehicle life. Minimize loss of accessibility due to equipment failure. Maintain vehicle exterior and interior appearance. Maintain a system of permanent vehicle maintenance records.

CAR MAINTENANCE PLAN It covers both the labour and expenses of parts while also providing cover for wear and tear replacement items such as fuses, wiper blades, and brake pads. It also covers mechanical components such as the gearbox, engine, and exhaust system. Windscreens, alignment, and tyres are not covered in maintenance plans.

BENEFIT OF THE CAR MAINTENANCE PLAN   Fixed and affordable monthly premiums for regularly scheduled vehicle maintenance. Specified item wear and tear cover. Qualified technicians and professional service. Remain unaffected by the ripple effect of inflation on labour and parts cost increases.

Maintenance schedule refers to tasks such as inspections and repairs that are performed according to a pre-defined maintenance schedule occurring periodically or occasionally. Maintenance schedule can be very handy when it comes to avoiding expensive repairs, prolonging machine life and maximizing safety. Maintenance schedule includes various activities ranging from routine monitoring to yearly services. SCHEDULE
