INSTRUCTIONAL
TECHNOLOGY THAT DEFINES
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN &
TECHNOLOGY (ID&T).
DANIEL ORLANDO TAPIA
Instructional Design and Technology is a field focused on analyzing relevant issues, designing,
developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional processes to enhance learning outcomes.
Examining the current state of instructional technology.
Understanding the broad and diverse field of instructional design and technology allows us to
reflect on our history and make informed decisions about our future direction.
Analysis: Identifying learning and performance issues.
Design: Creating instructional materials and processes.
Development: Building and refining those materials.
Implementation: Putting the materials into practice.
Evaluation: Assessing the effectiveness of the instructional approach.
ADDIE Model: Instructional Design
Instructional Design & Technology (ID&T) characteristics are student-centered, prioritizing learners'
needs and preferences. The approach is goal-oriented, aiming to achieve specific learning objectives
and empirical, relying on evidence-based practices.
There are multiple instructional design models. The most common instructional design models
include ADDIE, SAM, ACTION MAPPING, and LEARNING CIRCLE FRAMWORK.
Over time, there has been a shift from educators simply using media to present lessons to a more
comprehensive approach.
This now incorporates suitable technological resources and processes, all aimed at facilitating learning
and boosting performance.
