Moisture regain and moisture content
The ability of fibre to take up the moisture is known as absorbency . The absorbency is expressed in the terms of moisture regain and moisture content . Both are represented in percentage. Moisture absorption depends on the chemical nature and physical arrangement of fibre . The Indian atmosphere is generally very humid . In this conditions , our moisture managed fabric with moisture absorbent properties will ensure that the person wearing garment made of such fabrics is very comfortable and feels very near to nature. Introduction:
Moisture Regain : Moisture regain is defined as the percentage of the water present in a textile material of oven dry weight of the material. Measurements are done under standard testing conditions (70± 2℉ and 65% ±2% relative humidity). Saturation regain is the moisture regain of a material at 95-100% relative humidity. Wt. of the water in the material Moisture regain = × 100 Oven dry wt. of the material
What is Oven dry Weight? The constant weight obtained by drying textile materials at a specific temperature of (105±3 )℃ . We can also say that it is the weight of piece after it is oven dry and all water has been removed. What is Standard Moisture Regain ? The moisture absorbed by a particular weight sample in the standard atmosphere after treating at (105±3)℃ is called Standard Moisute Regain . It is also called official regain.
Moisture Content: Moisture content is defined as the percentage of water present in a textile material of total weight of the material. Wt. of water present in a material Moisture content = × 100 Total weight of the material The percentage of moisture in a textile material brought into equilibrium with a standard atmosphere after partial drying, calculated as percentage of the moisture-free weight.
