Air France Flight 447 Airbus A320 International flight from Brazil 🇧🇷 to france on May 31st 2009 around 8pm at local time. Duration of flight 12 hours, with 3 pilots,12 crews and 216 passengers. Route from Brazil to france crosses the Atlantic ocean.
Flight 447 As flight begin as normal routine everything was normal and reached the north Atlantic ocean, Co-pilot went for rest in his cabin. After a couple of hours when flight was about to center of ocean, weather's starts to abnormal and after sometime it became thunderstorm Flying from this area is challenging for pilots, because thunderstorm don't appear well in radar in this area. Around 2am co-pilot come from rest and change the captain for rest,Captain went without guiding them briefly.
In sometime both co-pilots entered in thunderstorm it make turbulence in craft. Two minutes later the aircraft encountered an updraft a sound typically of ice crystals hitting a fuselage was heard. Pitot tubes start picking up ice particles, normally this would not be a problem but the concentration of crystals is high enough they can clog them faster. All pitot tubes were filled from ice crystals and it invalid the air speed reading. This started a chain reaction of problem, the autopilot disconnected and flight director bars disappeared.
Crash The aircraft dropped from the 38000ft to sea level in just 3 minutes and 30 seconds All crews on board and passengers lost their lives, making one of the most tragic day in history of Aviation. This flight also called the TITANIC OF THE SKIES.
Conclusion The official report on the disaster was started after black box recorders were found following a two-year search. It found that the aircraft crashed due to several factors, including icing over external sensors called pitot tubes and pilot error.
