ECOSOC – The Economic and Social Council of the UN We need to consider the world’s Economic Situation in 2024
This is the text of the brief for the Chinese Conference
This is the Brief for the English Conference As we enter 2024, we are faced with new challenges that demand our unwavering commitment and determination. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict , the Russia-Ukraine war , and the looming threat of climate change have reshaped the course of human development. However, there is hope on the horizon with breakthroughs in AI technology and the emergence of clean energy .
Cont’d In the face of these challenges and opportunities, ECOSOC delegates are called upon to reevaluate the state of the global economy and its prospects for 2024. Key areas of focus include global GDP growth , regional disparities , labor markets , inflation , investment , trade , and international finance and debt . Their primary task is to devise strategies that foster consensus and coordinate efforts towards achieving internationally agreed-upon objectives The pursuit of economic stability, prosperity, and equality on a global scale remains of utmost importance. We eagerly await the call to action from our esteemed delegates as they work towards shaping a better future for all.
So… to sum up. The world is facing a number of really important challenges Climate Change And several major and minor wars (not just in Ukraine and Palestine) We need to think about: Global GDP, regional disparities, labor markets, inflation, investment, trade, and international finance and debt.
Research your country: What is your country’s position on: Ukraine & Palestine; Will Climate Change severely effect your country? How? Is there an economic prediction about how expensive it will be for your country? Since COVID… Has your country’s GDP Changed? How? What is the structure of your economy: What are the major industries? Is it mostly Primary, Secondary or Tertiary? Is your country very poor or very rich when compared to it’s neighbours? What is the Labor market like in your country? Unemployment Rates? How many jobs are available for people in your country?
Since COVID (2022-4)… Is Inflation a problem in your country? Is there much foreign investment in your country? What is trade like? What does your country export or import? How much international debt does your country have? How much money does your country need to pay every year to service its debt? Is your country a Debtor (borrowing money) or a Lender (loaning money)?
