Its still fresh in my memories she taught me how to make the sign of the cross. In my elementary years, Kinder to Grade 6, I was so lucky to be a M ichaelite for it really formed my values such that today I still apply them in my daily life such as the habit of praying . 8
We have the subject CHRISTIAN VALUES which we are taught and inculcate to our young minds as well as our hearts good moral values and it is my favorite subject. Why? Because the teacher would read to us stories in the bible then we had sharing of experiences that help me a lot in coping hardships in those early days. I became a God-fearing person which always inculcate in my mind and heart to do right and good things. 9
“ ADOLESCENT EXPERIENCE ” . 10
Unforgettable Experiences: In my High school days, at home, I have the idea that my mother and father were working so hard so that they could satisfy us with our needs. Both of my parents would woke up early as 5am to prepare our baons and for their jobs. It instilled to me the value of being Hardworking. Still, I’m so blessed to be a Michaelite in my high school for in which my moral values where strengthened. I could remember the teachers were able to inculcate values in all subject areas being taught. 11
I remember being a leader in our class as we’re having our daily rosary. It has been already a part of my life wherein I could memorize the Mysteries. Right now, If I find my mind in trouble, I would just silently pray the rosary for protection and seeking guidance to God. In this stage also, I wanted to be a priest but I believe God has different plans for me. Still preaching but in the school as a Teacher and as a School Guidance. 12
“ COLLEGE LIFE ” . 13 My true friends since College days until now. Educators from different school and countries. My best of the bestfriends since College days till now. We have constant communication. Learning from each others experiences.
Unforgettable Experiences: College life was one of the colorful experience I had. I had known my bestfriends in life. It train us how to religiously do our profession with love and enjoyment. I graduated in SMC receiving Loyalty Cup. With those experiences, I’m grateful to God for it did all happen, for it became what I am today. “ PROFESSIONAL LIFE ” . 16 Limunsudan Bayug Falls ES Teaching Force. My first family in the DepEd . Villa Verde ES Teaching Force. My second and recent family in the DepEd .
Unforgettable Experiences: My first station assigned was Limunsudan Bayug Falls Elem. School at Sitio Limunsudan , Brgy . Rogongon , Iligan City. We lived and slept in the room. We only go back home every twice a month. I was the second teacher assigned in the school. My room was only a makeshift room. It looks like a waiting shed, no wall, no chairs, the chalk board was just a plain plywood. It was indeed a struggle for me but seeing the eyes of my learners the hunger to learn, the happiness of those eyes seeing me as a teacher expecting to teach them. It was my motivation to teach 17
t hem with compassion and love. First , I asked God why am I here? Later on, I realized how lucky I am to be in my situation. It is also my realization that there are people who lives simple life and yet contented and happy. From that day, I always prayed thanking God for the blessings he gave me and for my family. Now, I presently assigned in my home based school at Villa Verde Elementary School as a School Guidance-Designate as well as the advisory of Grade 5 Perseverance. Being a school guidance it is a tradition where learners need attention comes 18
to the office to be guided. I have my happiest, funny, saddest experience with my learners as a guidance designate for almost 9 years at Villa V erde ES. It was my perks to be mentored with the principal, respected by your colleagues as well as all the learners in the school. I thank God for giving me all the strength as I hurdled challenges in life and work. I lift all my success to HIM for I know He was the one who showed me the way to be what I am today. 19
LEADERSHIP “ But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.” Matthew 20:26 20
“Paradigms are powerful because they create the lens through which we see the world… If you want small changes in your life, work on your attitude. But if you want big and primary changes, work on your paradigm.” DR . STEPHEN R. COVEY LEADERSHIP 21
REFLECTION Personal Life: Thankful for my parents was able to understand me as I go with my journey in life. They are always there beside me in any of my decisions. Work As I faced my clients and colleagues, I would always put myself in their shoes so that I would be able to understand them and able to give them my quality services. 23 THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE 1 - Be proactive. 2 - Begin with the end in mind . 3 - Put First Things First. 4 - Think Win/Win. 5 - Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood. 6 - Synergize . 7 - Sharpen the Saw.
24 Natural Principles The basis of Covey's work is the idea that natural laws exist that govern human effectiveness. According to Covey, these laws exist whether we believe in them, value them, or not. Examples of Covey's principles include human dignity, fairness, honesty, growth, and service. Covey asserts that emotional pain, stunted relationships, fear of failure, etc. derive from our lack of adherence to natural principles, which he calls "character." Any true happiness or fulfillment or success will have to come from the inside-out, and be based upon a sound character. Therefore, in order to become more effective, we don't need to look to self-help gurus or pass the blame on to others. We need to look within ourselves, align ourselves more closely with natural principles, and effectiveness will follow. He describes this process as "Private victories precede public victories."
25 REFLECTION: As I read the brief description of the 7 habits that Stephen Covey’s shared it open my mind to possessed this habits to become a highly effective individual. Before landing a Job, my focus was on my studies. It was to pass all the academic requirements so that I would have my Diploma. I thank God for the strength and wisdom he gave me for those moments when I felt tired and troubled. Now, I’m on the job suited on the degree I have graduated. At first, I prayed that any job will do, I would give my best and He will never be disappointed and recently as I reflected, still I’m on the right track. My motto in life is “Do everything in LOVE” 1 Corinthians 16:14. When you love what you are doing then everything will be calm and no stress. Every tiresome job will be light.
26 For the readings, I have realized that some of the habits are innate to us such as being proactive. Everyone has its responsibility and with those, it is our choice to make decisions that is for the betterment of ourselves and other people. Some of it are need to b e nurtured such as Synergy which entails courage and self confidence to lead a group. I believe this 7 habits correlated to each other and thus, to become a highly effective individual.
27 As a public school teacher I wanted to emulate and follow the f ootsteps of Jesus Christ. As a Christian, He is the best teacher i n the history of mankind for his teachings were great and it came f rom the Lord Almighty God. All of the teachings that came from His mouth were divine and true. It helped the Christians and h umanity itself to be saved from salvation through his teachings a nd doctrines. I wanted to follow Jesus Christ because of the His Leadership: 1. We lead by example. = As a leader, we walk what we talk. I see to it that what I teach values to my learners is what they see in me. A role model for the learners in school, so that they may follow. I may not be the perfect teacher but I see to it that what I do is always right. As the saying goes “action speaks louder than words.
28 5. Leadership is about service . = I always believe that a good leader is a good servant. As a public servant I always assure that I gave quality services in my clientele which is the school children. Serving them quality service is being honest and committed to my work as a teacher. 4. Good leaders don’t want fancy titles . = As a teacher as well as school guidance designate, It implies great responsibility in molding the youth. I just do my responsibility with love and compassion then I believe everything will be in order. 3. Good leaders don’t draw attention to themselves . = Just like Jesus, I lift every success in life to God. I do my best in my work not to draw attention from higher ups but to be fulfilled and satisfied in my work. It is satisfying for me to see and witness my leaners/clientele learn and change to be a better individual in the society. 2. We must fight the devil of self-esteem . = I believe everyday we fight our innermost devil in our hearts. Temptations are everywhere but I always bare in my mind that bad decisions will lead to consequences. That consequences may not be directly to me but for my Family and people around me. Good Doings begets Good karma. When you do good things, blessings will com to you and your family a thousand folds.
