Challenge 1 Prompt: Imagine a world where humans have discovered a planet almost identical to Earth. However, there’s one key difference: time moves differently on this planet. For every hour that passes on Earth, a year goes by on this new planet. Your task: Write a short science fiction story about a group of explorers who are the first to visit this planet. Consider the challenges they face with time, how they communicate with people back on Earth, and what they discover on this new world. How does the time difference affect their mission? Do they encounter any strange life forms or remnants of an ancient civilization? How do they deal with the fact that people they knew on Earth are aging rapidly while they are not?

Plan your Science Fiction Narrative

Compose the first draft of your Science Fiction Narrative once you are done with the planning.

Challenge 2 Challenge 3 Challenge 4 A Day in the Future Imagine you wake up 100 years from now. The world has changed a lot! You have a special robot friend who helps you with everything. One day, something strange happens—your robot friend starts acting differently. Describe what the world looks like, how your robot friend usually helps you, and what you do when things start to go wrong. Things to think about: What does the future look like? Are there flying cars, super tall buildings, or strange new animals? How does your robot friend help you every day? What happens when the robot starts acting differently? How do you feel, and what do you do? Try to write at least 3 paragraphs : one to describe the future world, one to describe your robot friend, and one to tell what happens when things go wrong. The Mysterious Signal I magine you are living in a small town where nothing exciting ever happens. One night, you notice a strange signal coming from your radio that only you can hear. The signal seems to be a message from an unknown source far away—maybe even from another planet! Write a short story about what happens when you decide to investigate the mysterious signal. Think about these questions as you write: What does the message say? Who or what is sending the signal? What surprising discoveries do you make as you follow the clues? How does your life change after uncovering the truth? The Last Transmission In the not-so-distant future, humanity has established a small colony on a distant exoplanet. Communication with Earth is maintained through a series of powerful satellites. One day, the colony receives a strange, garbled transmission from Earth—a message that seems to defy the laws of physics, as it appears to have come from decades in the future. The message contains a warning: a cosmic event is approaching that will affect both Earth and the colony. But there's a catch—the transmission cuts off before revealing how to prevent the catastrophe. Write a short story from the perspective of a scientist or a young colonist who must decipher the incomplete message and figure out what to do before it's too late. Consider: The challenges of life on a distant planet. The ethical dilemmas of making decisions that could affect both the colony and Earth. The emotional impact of being far from home when the fate of two worlds hangs in the balance.

Success Criteria I can do it with ease! I can do it with some help! I need help!! I can identify a Science Fiction Narrative. I can extract the elements of a Science Fiction Narrative. I can plan a Science Fiction Narrative. I can compose the first and final draft of a Science Fiction Narrative.
