INTRODUCTION Good road also have wider positive environmental, social and economical impacts for regions and the country. There are mainly two types of Highways. a) National Highways. b) State Highway. In this project I would like to present details of National Highway and State Highway across the village. National Highway Road having the width from 7 m to 15 m connect the capital cities of the various states in the country are called as National Highway (NHs)
LET’S KNOW National Highway They run through the length and breadth of the country. They connect National capital to all state capitals, major cities, towns, border areas. They should have at least two traffic lanes, good surface finishing and excellent strength to carry heavy traffic. The construction and maintenance of these roads is usually carried out by central government.
PROPERTIES OF NATIONAL HIGHWAY SPECIFIC FEATURES National highways share much burden of traffic. They help to form big networks. These highways consist of paved roads. It helps to form a quicker connectivity among to places. The responsibility of construction and maintenance of these roads lies with the central government.
STATE HIGHWAY The roads having the width varying from 7 m to 10 m connect the national highways and the district places in states and are known as state highways (SH).
LET’S KNOW State Highway There are main roads running within the states. They connect important towns, cities of state with National Highways. These are generally one lane but two lanes are always be preferred. They are modern type of bituminous or concrete surfacing. The construction and maintenance of these roads are usually carried out by the State Government.
PROPERTIES OF STATE HIGHWAY SPECIFIC FEATURES State highway carry medium to fast traffic. State highways are the highways which connect he state capital with all the major district headquarters and important town of the state . The state highways are maintained and administered by the state government. The state highways constitutes only 4% of the total road length in our country. ‘Mahatma Gandhi Marg’ of Delhi is an example of state highway, which connects the 9 districts of Delhi.
