Natural Environment Essay
Crafting an essay on the natural environment is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The
complexity arises from the vastness of the subject, encompassing a myriad of interconnected
elements such as ecosystems, biodiversity, climate change, conservation, and human impact. The
task requires a comprehensive understanding of scientific, ecological, and sociological aspects,
demanding extensive research and synthesis of diverse information.
Moreover, capturing the essence of the natural environment in words necessitates a delicate
balance between scientific accuracy and engaging prose. Striking this balance is a formidable
task, as the language must convey complex concepts in a way that is accessible to a broad
audience while maintaining a sense of urgency about the environmental issues we face.
The depth of the topic requires a nuanced exploration of various perspectives, from the
ecological intricacies of ecosystems to the ethical dimensions of environmental stewardship.
Articulating these viewpoints coherently while avoiding oversimplification or overwhelming
technical jargon adds an extra layer of difficulty to the writing process.
Furthermore, addressing the current state of the natural environment often involves confronting
uncomfortable truths about human impact, deforestation, pollution, and climate change.
Balancing the presentation of these challenges with a call to action for positive change requires
finesse to inspire readers without inducing despair.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the natural environment demands a harmonious blend of
scientific expertise, eloquent expression, and a deep sense of responsibility toward the planet. It
is a formidable task that calls for dedication, research prowess, and an ability to convey complex
ideas in an accessible manner.

Compare And Contrast Frankenstein And Van Helsing
I must admit before I dive into this paper that I have never been a huge fan of
horror movies. I really don t like to be scared, but when a horror movie doesn t
scare me (most don t) I am oddly disappointed. Even though I don t like being
scared my expectations for horror movies is to be freaked out or at least to be
disturbed and in need of some self reflection time. The only exception to this is when
the horror movie is a parody or when the movie has a cheesy and funny overtone with
a darker undercurrent as with Young Frankensteinand Van Helsing respectively. The
way that these movies pull apart the horror genre and dissect it with love and
admiration actually makes me want to watch more horror films, which is no small
feat. Young Frankenstein draws attention to elements of horror by making fun or and
exaggerating them. (Duh, that s what parody does, I know, bear with me.) One of my
favorite things about the film is that it touches on some of the social commentary and
elements that make horror movies scary, such as the fascination with the knowledge
of power, the message that one shouldn t play God, the suggestion that man is evil,
and of course the fearful fascination with death. Yet, unlike Van Helsing, Brook s
Young Frankenstein shows us the absurdity factor inherent in these concepts, and
addresses them all with such levity and non stop laughs that one can lose sight of
these horror elements and get caught up solely in the comedy aspect of the movie.
Yet, this movie

Epilogue To The Giver
The echo continued to ring in Jonas s ear, a sound of hope. It seemed unimaginable
in the vast empty landscape that stood before him.
As Jonas continued to walk, sinking his feet into the inches of fallen snow, he
noticed how the landscape itself, with its emptiness, its lack of color, with its true
form covered and its cold touch showing no mercy, seemed to depict the previous
vacant life that he had left behind.
Jonas looked down at Gabe, whose eyes seemed to be losing their laughter and
whose skin was as pale as the fallen snow, with two bright pink circles on his cheeks
showing the wind s brutal and endless force.
Jonas whispered, We re going to be ok... I promise.
It was an empty promise, but it was all he had to offer.
Jonas instinctively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I remember seeing the victim s black eyes, before they put the lid on, with the
pupil occupying most if not all of the iris, leaving no color. When I looked at those
eyes I seemed to reencounter the memory of death and I realized the constant
murder my society committed and I broke even more. The man releasing me
turned towards me, with his eyes showing no guilt. His empty eyes reminded me
of death, it made me realize how they are never truly alive. I wanted to escape, not
to die. So I asked the man if I could do it myself. I turned my back to him so he
couldn t see me dump the black content out. I put my head on the pillow and closed
my eyes. I remained frozen as they put me into the box. I was claustrophobic , but
too afraid to say anything as they threw me down the trash shoot. As soon as the
box landed, I threw open the lid and saw myself knee deep in boxes. There not
boxes, not objects, I reminded myself, there bodies. They re people. I eventually
got out of the seemingly endless white, perfectly arranged boxes, with each step I
took sinking into the boxes and feeling the presence of a body. Once I got out I ran
and I cried, my tears seemed to be endless even against the cold. Now I m here and
I refuse to shed tears over a murderous society. I have nightmares and still see myself
stepping on those innocent people. Some children that didn t even have a chance to
live she finished.
Jonas looked at her as he tried to swallow the lump that was forming in his throat. So
many tears were shed today and so many more to come.
Why didn t you go back? Jonas asked, his voice shaking.
How could I after what I saw. Isn t that the reason you ran away? she

St. James Hospital Department Of Human Resources
Franciscan St. James Hospital Department of Human Resources Most organizations
view human resources departments as less valuable than other departments because it
s not a revenue generating department. However, it is quite the opposite because HR
brings the organization its most valuable assets, which are its people.
Since its birth in November of 1911, Franciscan St. James (Franciscan) has evolved
tremendously. Over the years, it has expanded from a 50 bed acute hospital into one
with two campus locations including Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, IL
(Franciscan Alliance Inc., 2015). Rich in both religion and compassion, Franciscan is
built on strong ethics and morals. Its mission is to continue Christ s Ministry in

The hospital offers its patients center for diabetes, rehabilitation, colon and rectal
surgery, bariatric surgery, pain management and wound and disease management;
surgery, joint, and occupational and environmental health centers; and a sleep
disorders lab (Franciscan Alliance, 2015). Additionally, several services for women
and children are delivered along with emergency, diagnostic, outpatient therapy, home
health, ambulance and EMS, and family care, as well as durable medical equipment
(Franciscan Alliance, 2015). The services offered vary between in patient and out
patient depending on the services rendered. The hospital emergency room services
operate 24 hours 7 days per week. However, the human resources department has
standard business operation hours of 8 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (Irons, 2015).
The professionals who occupy positions within St. James and are trusted to carry out
the mission and values can be tied directly back to the Department of Human
Resources.
Accreditations and Credentials The HR department ensures that the various
departments within the hospital are current with all laws, regulations, accreditations,
and policies. There are a number of credentials necessary in order for St. James to
function. The hospital is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association
/Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program and is the first in the area to be
accredited by the American Diabetes Association (Franciscan Alliance, 2015). It

Non Healing Research Paper
Non healing wounds, also known as chronic wounds, are defined as wounds that do
not show improvement in healing within four weeks. Chronic wounds affect millions
of people around the world and health care expenses in the United States can cost
more than one billion dollars. Chronic wound healing is a complicated process with
different pathologies depending on the patients condition. Four highly integrated and
overlapping phases compose the wound healingprocess: hemostasis, inflammation,
proliferation, and tissue remodeling. Occurrence of chronic wounds is usually due to
unsuccessful progression through the normal stages of healing, and frequently enters a
state of pathologic inflammation. Several cell types are involved in the woundhealing

The Emperor Penguin And The Great
The Emperor penguin and the Great norther diver they are both are from the class
Aves (Magnuson, 2007) .In addition, the emperor penguin since is in the class Aves,
the penguins used to be able to flight which is an adaptive trait. But, since they are
bigger, heavier, and better at swimming the trait was lost over time (Elliott et. al,
2013).In addition, physiologically the common loon looks different very different
from the Emperor penguinlooks bigger and can t fly. In the other hand the common
loon is small, is able to fly, swim, but can t walk (Mager et. al, 2017). Both, species
have evolve to either loss or gain traits over time to adapt to their environment. Both
species are in the same class but, have different niche in the environment. The
emperor penguin can be found in the open ice of Antarcticaand they are considered
sea ice obligate species (Fretwell et. al,2014).Emperor penguin, has an advantage in
their environment since there are no predators and completion for the resources they
eat. Moreover, their body temperature surfaces cool beneath the air temperature since
they life in a cold environment (McCafferty et al,2013).In addition, the environment
in which Emperor penguin live on is harsh, but they are the only vertebrate species
that breed during the Antarctic winter and the reason are not yet known ( Zitterbart
et. al,2014).As a result, the climate change in their habitat Emperor penguin are in
jeopardy and their population will decline since the

Evaluative Conditioning Study
Evaluative conditioning is a form of conditioning whereby a neutral stimulus is
paired with a positive stimulus and then the response to the positive stimulus is
measured. (Brace, 2014) This type of conditioning can be applied in the real
world. One use for evaluative conditioning is in advertising, whereby a product
(the neutral stimulus) can be paired with positive imagery (the positive stimulus)
in order to elicit a positive response from a viewer of consumer 2. One study that
has measured the benefits of evaluative conditioning is a study conducted by Chen
et al (2012, cited in Brace, 2014 p.160) Part of this study aimed to gauge whether or
not images of sporting events were viewed more favourably when paired with images
of celebrities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Larger sample sizes are needed in order to gain more convincing generalisability.
Another area for development could potentially be the study of the long term
effects of evaluative conditioning. Studies such as the DE100 study, and the other
studies mentioned, simply show that this type of conditioning has a short term
effect. This could be explored further by potentially arranging a follow up with
participants in the study to ascertain whether they still feel more positively about
the given stimuli, or whether there opinions have changed over time. Furthermore,
removing the human experimenter and having all information provided by a
computer may remove elements of the social desirability bias, as a participant may
feel as though an interviewer would prefer them to respond in a certain way.
Exploration is needed in the ways in which this bias may be alleviated. Another
area of further research could potentially be the length of time visual stimuli is
shown. In the DE100 study, each image was shown for a total of 3 seconds. This is
divergent from the study conducted by Chen et al, who showed each image for 5
seconds, and Holland et al, who showed images for one second. Further study could
aim to establish whether the length of time an image is shown has an effect of the
subsequent responses given by

August Rush Short Story
Hello, Darling.
The dogs came first, their short muscular bodies scudding along the pavement like
torpedoes. Behind them came the Brothers and their men, followed by the girl and
the fat woman. Alone, they would be invisible or abused; together, and with the
panting dogs as their messengers, they wielded their difference like a weapon. The
crowd parted instinctively, creating an ever widening space for their passage.
Jen hung back, keeping close to the buildings. Most of the street people were
harmless, but Joseph and Daniel Avery were dangerous; catch their eye, come into
their orbit, and they would make you their victim. Mirror images of each other, they
stalked the streets like warlords, their dogs always by their side, their gang of

Most of them were well kept, gaudy paint fresh, brass fittings shining, flowers in
pots on the deck, but some of then looked neglected, and squatted low in the water,
as though mourning their lost brilliance. There was a kitchen chair lying on its side
on one of them. The man had been sitting on a chair much like that, she recalled,
shoulders slumped, hands dangling between spread thighs, but he d straightened up
and his face had brightened when she d looked at him, as if he d recognised her and
she was important to him. She stooped to look through the window, and a dog hurled
itself at her shadow, barking hysterically. Others joined in; it sounded as if they had
turned on each other. She backed away, imagining their snapping jaws, their flat
arrow shaped skulls and dead eyes, and ran back along the path and up the steps to the

Innovations in Crude Oil Production Essay
Innovations in Crude Oil Production
The first oil well was drilled in 1859 by Edwin Drake. It burned to the ground several
months later, but had it survived it would only have yielded around 20 barrels of oil
per day, hardly a drop in today s market.( Story ) At the time however, it was
considered a success and it began a revolution in oil production. Crude oil production
in the world skyrocketed from a few hundred barrels of oil per day to 76 million
today.
( International ) Of course, in the long term, this is not sustainable. In the near future
however, it is the goal of the oil industry to continue this growth in order to continue
to meet the world demand.
Unlike the rest of the world, crude oil production in the US has ... Show more content

Examining the technological leaps made from early means of oil production to
present day emerging technology shows a trend of increasing efficiency that suggests
efforts to access this unrecoverable oil will succeed.
Traditionally, oil production is a very inefficient process. To see this, examine a
conventional oil well, which lacks most modern innovations. Means used to locate
this well, such as 2D seismic imaging, were imprecise, so developing this well
probably involved drilling and abandoning several so called dry holes where no oil
was struck.
The well itself consists of one vertically drilled hole. The structure and equipment
surrounding the well take up a great deal of space. Only around 10% of the oil in
the reservoir the well taps will be recovered. ( Enhanced ) Obviously, there is room
for improvement in the efficiency of the well and in its environmental impact.
The first major area of improvement is in the process used to locate sites for oil wells.
The first really accurate way to do this was by employing 2D seismic technology.
This still resulted in many dry holes. Using Shell and Amoco s Foenhaven Oil Field
as an example, only around 25 30% of the oil was recovered from wells located using
the
2D technology. With the advent of 3D seismic locating technology, the depth of an
oil pocket could be determined, and as a result far fewer dry holes were made, which

Dealing with the Death of a Family Member
The death of a family member can greatly affect the family system as it creates a
void that is difficult to adjust to. The family experiences a terrible sense of loss, as
well as a fear that they have to carry on with their lives without their loved one
(Rotter, 2000). They have a hard time picturing there knew life and moving on
without them. With the familysystem changing it may destroy the relationships that
already exists in the family (Bowlby West, 1983). After the death of a family
member the most difficult time for the family would be the anniversaries. These
anniversaries include the anniversary of the day that the family member died, their
birthday as well as special holidays. These dates are stressful for the family and will
be a reminder of the death (Bowlby West, 1983). The griefprocess that the family
system will go through after the death of a family member may last a long time,
especially as they go through the different anniversary s. Non normative events,
such as a child s death by suicide, and accidental death may also make the grief
process more difficult (Rotter, 2000). According to Bowlby (1979) and Parkes
(1972) there are four stages of grief that people will go through during the grief
period after the death of a family member (Bowlby West, 1983). The first phase is
a phase of numbness that lasts from a few hours to a week. They may experience
anger and distress as well. They would find it difficult to cope with tasks because
they are preoccupied

Application And Application Of Crowdsensing Application
1.Introduction
Nowadays, most of the mobile devices equipped with variety of different sensors
such as positioning sensors (GPS), accelerometers, light sensors , gyroscope sensor
and so on. Moreover, the growth in the popularity of mobile devices and also
advances in communication and processing technologies, provide opportunity for
creating a new platform to sense different attributes of environment in large scale
areas without requiring any infrastructure which called crowdsensing in the
literature[1].
Crowdsensing application consists of two major functionality. The first function is
using the mobile sensors to sense the environmental attributes and the second one is
sending the sensed data to the server by using some communication technology such
as wireless network. Unfortunately those aforementioned functionalities consume
considerable amount of battery. On the other hand, crowdsensing application can
only works properly if a large number of people participate in it. Obviously a
significance impact on user s experience due to using crowdsensing application can
prevent users from participating in the system.
There are a number of works done regarding to optimizing crowdsensing application
that we will talk about it in the next chapter precisely. Most of the works in this field
focused on reducing the energy consumption of sensing task by applying efficient
sampling algorithm. Also plenty of researches tackle the energy consumption of
communication between mobile

Wonder Woman Summary
Why do you think that the article begins with a description of Wonder Woman?
The reason I believe that the text begins with a description of wonder woman is
because she is a woman hero and her personality describes a woman hero which the

Essay Health Economics
Cost benefit, cost effectiveness and cost utility analyses are forms of economic
evaluation which are useful in health economics for comparing costs and allocating
resources. Health economics is widely relevant to governments and the health sector
in implementation of new policy, as it concerns the allocation of resources in the
context of a limited budget, or scarcity . Economic evaluation is a potential tool for
setting priorities in health, though it is only one of many potential criteria, including
overall budget and public attitudes and wants. Economic evaluation is already in use
in some settings, such as in pharmaceutical company proposals for government
subsidisation, but there is room for expansion across the field of... Show more content

Changing factors such as aging populations and new technologies becoming available
are increasing expectations from people throughout the world, and decision makers
must make rational choices to maximise benefits to population health whilst working
with limited resources. Yothasamut et al (2009) summarise this by observing that
health care resources in every setting are always constrained, while unlimited demand
is observed . The best choices in the context of economics are the ones which
maximise utility (individual satisfaction through consumption of goods) and welfare,
the sum utility experienced by all individuals in society. Decision makers often have
to seek satisfactory rather than optimal solutions, also known as working with
bounded rationality (Simon 1957 in Williams et al 2008), as it is important to pursue
both efficiency and equity in the funding of health care. Therefore, it may be
unsuitable to fund the most cost effective option if it sacrifices the equal distribution
of benefits. Research in health economics can take a normative or positive approach
and this reflects the balance needed between cost control and equity when making
economic decisions. Positive economic research and analysis is concerned with how
things are and seeks to explain economic phenomena, whilst normative economic
research and analysis is concerned with how things ought to be and relies on value

Organizational Structure And Leadership Style Of Greater...
Organizational Analysis: Greater Baltimore Medical Center
The adaptability of healthcare industries in an evolving world of change requires
dynamics to identifying weakness and distinction. Often times, these organizational
modifications mirror changes in the society. They are inspired by collective
experiences, perceptions, norms, values, economics and political forces at a given
particular period (Thomas, 2014). The purpose of this paper is to explore the
organizational structure and leadership style of Greater Baltimore Medical Center
(GBMC), identify its culture, mission, values and goals. The complex adaptive
system, level of greatness and readiness for change will also be addressed.
Complex Adaptive System
Currently, the complexity of the adaptive system of the healthcare organizational
structure remains convoluted due to the opposition to change, the fear of the
unknown and the acceptance of unpredictability. According to Plesk Greenhalgh
(2001), the complex adaptive system (CAS) in the 21st century healthcare
organization comprises of a group of individual representatives with the autonomy to
operate in a manner that is not entirely foreseeable thereby hindering the outcome of
other agents. Due to multiple disciplines operating collectively to achieving the
desired outcome, work environment could be inhabitable for some while adapting to
change. One of the challenges of the transformation of the CAS is the perception of
seeing the whole as the sum of its parts,

Persuasive Essay On Into The Wild
Understanding oneself is one of the most important factors in living a free life, and
living on the road can be a big part of this process. In the novel, Into The Wild, Jon
Krakauer writes about a boy who ventures into the wilderness and inevitably learns
more about himself on a journey right before he dies. In order to avoid his
problematic family, Chris McCandless journeys into danger where he meets people
who help him learn more about the world. Although he does eventually meet his end
in Alaska, he leaves the world without worries or regrets. By living on the road and
in nature, Mccandless is able to live the life that he wants and be free from the
clutches of society. While living on the road can prove fatal, it allows a person to
find themselves and avoid the problems of society; therefore, people should look to
nature in order to better understand themselves. By living in nature, a person is able
to truly understand what they want in life, and how to achieve it. Nature allowed
McCandless to reflect and understand that it was the place that he wanted to be
submersed in. Similar to many romantics, McCandless was a person who saw the
beauty in nature and wanted to experience it for himself. He was tired of society
and all the pressure that was put upon him by it. McCandless states to his father, I
ve decided that I m going to live this life for some times to come. The freedom and
simple beauty of it is just too good to pass up (92). Even before he enters the wild,
McCandless has a sense that living in the wild is what is right for him. He knows
that he wants to be free within the plains of nature instead of being confined by the
walls that his parents placed him in. After his adventures through the country during
college, he eventually saw it best to give up everything and seek himself within
nature. What Mccandless wants more than anything is to be free from his uneventful
life with his family that had high expectations for him. By being in nature and on the
road, he is able to achieve this because he has no real connections to society. By
being given the possibility of entering the beautiful and simple space given by nature,
nothing can stand in the way of Chris s dreams and aspirations. Although

Research Supported Analyses of Poems
Ode to the Chameleon by Yusef Komunyakaa utilizes metaphors and allusion to
convey and enhance the meaning of his poem. A common subject among his
poems is what it was like to be an african american man fighting alongside white
men in the Vietnam War. A very powerful metaphor used in lines 3 5 is, You are a
glimpse/of a rainbow, your eyes an iota/of amber (Komunyakaa 3 5). Komunyakaa

which are fairly special. Prior to reading the poem, someone may have never thought
of a chameleon as being similar to a rainbow or a piece of amber. But, the poem

unforgettable. The entire poem... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these lines, he demonstrates that racelessness was present in the past, and is
something that society strives for, something for the future. But, racial acceptance
is not in the present. He believes that no matter how hard people try to become
color blind, they will never succeed. Racism will always haunt human civilization; it
is about as terminable as aging or poverty (Salas). The poem uses metaphors that
compare the chameleon to rare things to give the reader an idea of how uncommon a
person is who essentially sees no race really is. Another goal of the poem is to help
the reader cross a racial divide, to show that people who look different are not really
that different at all (Salas).
It s not what you look at that matters, it s what you see. The message Henry David
Thoreau conveys is looking is not seeing, a theme that is very evident in Facing It.
By getting in touch with the reader s senses, he allows them to empathize and
really feel what it was like to be in his shoes. A war is hardly something that can be
understood by reading black and white words on a page. In order to truly
comprehend the war experience, one must see and feel what is was like to be on the
battlefield. Throughout the work, Komunyakaa references the reflective surface of

Brick And Mortar
Our group narrowed down the myriad of industries by analyzing data within the
consumer discretionary industry. During this analysis, the retail group peaked our
interest because it represents a significant portion of the restatements that have
occurred within the consumer discretionary industry. However, these restatements
have significantly lowered from the years 2000 2015. We decided to delve into the
matter further to try and determine why the retail industry has more restatements and
why they have been decreasing in recent years.
We wanted to narrow the retail industry into a niche categorical distinction: Brick
and Mortar versus Online. To begin working towards creating a threshold for this
distinction, we pulled data relating to fixed assets and total sales for companies within
the retail industry. By utilizing the visualization software, we could see a significant
divide in the sales divided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three most influential accounts we detected were revenue, inventory, and
depreciation. We found that these accounts have an inverse relationship with
restatement occurrence. We attribute this to numerous factors, but have specifically
reasoned that stores have little incentive to manage their earnings when a steady
increase is occurring, potentially resulting in lower restatements. We reasoned that the
revenue, inventory, and depreciation accounts show similar trends because as a firm s
revenue increases, it must invest in more inventory and fixed assets to continue
operations at an efficient and effective level to meet consumer demand. This
demonstrates the positive correlation between the three accounts. Another factor to
attribute to the decline in restatements could be the implementation of the Sarbanes
Oxley Act in 2002. The restatements within the retail industry peaked in 2002 2004,
but have been rapidly declining

Science And Bias In The Human And Natural Sciences
The Ultimate protection against research error and bias is supposed to come from the
way scientists constantly test and retest each others results To What extent would you
agree with this claim in the natural and human sciences.
Human beings are inherently flawed creatures. Through faults in reason and sense
perception we interpret the world not as it truly is. Both the Human and Natural
Sciences are tools to understand the world and are a lens in which to comprehend
ideas not readily available to us purely through common sense logic and sense
perception. The implications made in the title are that the inductive scientific method,
when removed from error and bias, provides unequivocal and unobjectionable
objective truth. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Assumptions in the title of this essay imply that results, theories and laws resulting
from the current system of peer review multiple perspectives produce completely
infallible objective truth, this is a false premise. Whilst the group of knowers
known as the scientific community have collectively less bias than one lone
knower trying to understand the universe, there is still collective and engrained
level of institutional bias. The same problems of confirmation bias and expectation
are present in a group of knowers just as they are with one single knower.
According to Karl Popper (1902 1994) the best way to eliminate any expectation
and confirmation bias was to falsify and disprove rather than confirm one s
hypothesis and predictions. Popper argues: no matter how convincing an argument
or theory is, all that is needed to disprove it is one piece of valid counterclaiming
evidence. Whilst this theory is valid on an individual level, it really becomes an
effective tool in the objectivity of science on a large scale. Despite this attempt at
objectifying and protecting against error and bias it is inadequate due to inherent
flaws in the scientific method. Induction, moving from the specific to the general, is
the key element in scientific logic. Any theory or law proved through this logic has
some key flaws: the main flaw being that inductive logic can never be certain of any
event happening or of any prediction. Richard van de Lagemaat

Website Analysis of National Right to Life Committee (NRLC)
Key Terms: Claims, Typifying Example, Pro Life, Rhetoric, Social Movement,
Abortion, Assisted Suicide, Life, Organization.
Introduction
National Right to Life Committee(NRLC) is the second oldest and largest pro life
organization in the United States. This social movement organization deals with
several life related issues like abortion, assisted suicide or euthanasia, cloning,
Medicare issues and so on. However, my focus topics are Abortion and Assisted
Suicide/ Euthanasia because these are the two most common issues life related issues.
Abortion
The rate of abortion in the United States has been increasing rapidly since 1973,
with an estimated total of over 55 million abortions. Research also shows that more
Americans now commit abortion for less important reasons than rape of incest since
the legalization approximately 93% of the women who carry out abortion explain
that they do it for social reasons . However, National Right to Life
Committee(NRLC) provides some normative claims as to why should not be
legalized as the rhetoric of their argument. The members of this organization explain
the similarities between abortion and murder; the diary of an unborn child and the
pains that they face during abortion. They also present some scientific theories that
relate to pregnancy and life. According to science, as soon as fertilization takes place
in a woman s body, a new life begins; the heart begins to beat

Career And Technical School System
Throughout the United States and even the world, there are many different types of
schools that children are able to attend. These schools are also located in different
environments, such as rural, urban, and suburban. Not only are there different
environments, there are also a wide range of schools to pick from; public, private,
boarding, charter, home schooling, online and career/technical schooling. The career
/technical schoolsystem is very different from the majority of other schools.
However, they are very beneficial to the future of the students, especially for college
readiness across the nation. Through this website, https://www.acteonline.org/, we
see that career and technical schools are very technology driven. Career and
technical schools are educational facilities that allow students to explore a specific
career or field that they are interested in. They offer approximately sixteen different
career and technical choices and over 70 different sub careers ranging from Education
and Training, Government and Public Administration, Manufacturing, Information
Technology, Finance, Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to
Transportation, Distribution and Logistics plus other career fields of interest that
appeal to the students. The Career and Technical Education Schools are able to
fulfill the needs of employers who are looking for specific criteria when hiring a new
employee to fill an available position within their company. () Since the students

How Technology Has Continuously Improved Computer
Hardware...
Since the computer was invented the evolution of technology has grown into culture
and has been the central of communication since the early 1980s. In order to
understand the meaning of encryption and why it is so important, you have to
understand why the computer was created and how inventors have continuously
improved computerhardware devices. The computer was first invented to calculate
numbers and help scientists with different mathematical equations. Then during the
world war I, and world war II, Germans were using these computers to encrypt
messages over morse code and complicated algorithms. However these algorithms of
encryption were easily cracked by United States cryptographers. Over the war many
encrypted messages were broken and the German military lost substations, overall
control of the war; and eventually surrendering. Safe to say that encryption devices
has been a necessity for transmitting data securely and in today s society personal
containment (Crayton Culp, n.d.). Over the next five decades inventors, of all
nationalities, have worked to improve encryption hardware devices from the internal
architecture, removable storages, networking devices, and the overall networking
security module.
Encryption has different meanings depending on what you context you are using it
in, but for the cyber context is means to convert electronic data into another form,
called cipher text, which cannot be easily understood by anyone except authorized

Positive And Effect Of Coffee
The Effects of Coffee
Coffee, a magic word with a magic power. Tons of people enjoy coffee, love coffee,
and need coffee. With Starbucks being well known for their delicious tasting drinks,
coffee has become an international drink for almost everybody. It is commonly
consumed on a daily basis with today s society being highly involved with
caffeinated drinks. Drinking coffee can affect us positively because it helps prevent
diseases and boosts up our metabolism, as well as it reduces headaches and decreases
the chances of developing kidney stones.
The fact that everyone likes coffee does not mean they are fit to drink coffee.
Whether it s good coffee or bad, the effect it causes depends on the consumer. It is
commonly argued the position it takes as it has both negative and positive results.
The majority of human epidemiological studies suggest that regular coffee
consumption over one s lifetime reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer s
disease. It appears to be beneficial before the occurrence of this disease which is
during the pre morbid phase. These intriguing results suggest that older adults with
mild memory impairment who drink moderate levels of coffee about 3 cups a day
will not convert to Alzheimer s disease or at least will experience a substantial delay
before converting to Alzheimer s, said study author Dr. Chuanhai Cao, a

Analysis Of Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell To Arms
In WWI nearly 37 million people died, Ernest Hemingway was not one of them.
Hemingway was an ambulance driver in the Italian army until he was eventually
injured by an artillery shell. Once Hemingway returned home he began writing a
book based on his experiences of WWI. That book is A Farewell to Arms. In 1929 he
published this book and it was met with mixed feelings and calls for it to be banned.
I believe that A Farewell to Armsshould not be banned because it brings to light
many different viewpoints about the war as well as strong literary strategies
beneficial to good writing.

Frederic is then left to walk back to the hotel heartbroken and utterly alone.
I believe that A Farewell to Arms should not be banned because it portrays the true
colors of war and teaches how inglorious and unorganized it was contrary to the
beliefs of the early 20th century. In the early 20th century many people thought
that war was a glorious, romantic, and organized thing but as we know today this
is not true at all. In an article written by Charles Oliver he states The individual
soldier is nearly always confused in battle and never sure of the outcome until he
hears about it later. (Oliver, 1). From this quote we can conclude that battle is not
organized like many people at the time believed. In fact, this quote shows that war
is so unorganized that nobody knows what is going on. Later on, in the article
Oliver states that For the soldier in the field, there are no rules, except to do whatever
he can to stay alive. (Oliver, 3). From this quote we can come to a few different
conclusions, the first is that the front was not a place of romance or glory, in fact it
was a place of horror where every soldier was on his own fighting for his life. The
second is that war was not a glorious ritual of protecting the homeland like many
believed at the time, but that it was a chaotic mess of killing to stay alive. Lastly on

Freedom of the Press Versus Right to Privacy
Freedom of the press versus right to privacy
ByRobert Skidelsky (China Daily)
Privacy has become a big issue in contemporary jurisprudence. The right to privacy is
enshrined in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, and guaranteed by
Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. But Article 8 is balanced by
Article 10, which guarantees free expression of opinion . So what right has priority
when they conflict?
Under what circumstances, for example, is it right to curtail press freedom in order
to protect the right to privacy, or vice versa? The same balance is being sought
between the right of citizens to data privacy and government demands for access to
personal information to fight crime, terrorism, and so on. ... Show more content on

A law that curtails the abuse of press power while protecting its freedom to expose
the abuse of political power would be difficult, but not impossible, to frame. The
essential principle is that the media should not be allowed to pander to the public s
prurience under cover of protecting the public interest.
What famous people indeed ordinary people, too do in private should be off limits
to the media unless they give permission for those activities to be reported,
photographed, or filmed. The only exceptions would be if a newspaper has
reasonable grounds for believing that the individuals concerned are breaking the law,
or that, even if they are not breaking the law, they are behaving in such a way as to
render them unfit to perform the duties expected of them.
Thus, a pop star s consumption of illegal drugs may be reported, but not his or her
sexual habits (if they are legal). The private life of a politician may be revealed if it
is expected to have consequences for the way the country is being governed; that of
a top executive of a public company if it may affect the returns to shareholders.
This should be the only public interest defense available to a media outlet that is
sued for invasion of privacy. The media might become a bit drearier, but public life
would be far healthier.

It could be said that marble quarrying and processing industries belong to the oldest
industries of the world. The Ancient Egyptians, 5000 years ago, knew 40 different
types of ornamental stones and worked chiefly with granite and some types of
marble such as Alabaster. Some historians assert that the Greek and the Romans
acquired the skills of quarrying and processing marble from the Ancient Egyptians.
For over a thousand years now, the economic activity of a city like Carara in Italy
has been relying on and revolving mainly around marble. Today, marble is a
differentiated product that is internationally traded. The price and value of marble
depends on one hand on its natural characteristics (like quality, type and color) and
on the other hand on technological processing (giving it a special shape, polish, size
and thickness). Hence, the production of marble can be considered as highly
differentiated, and strongly dependent on level of technology use.( Azza I. Kandil

Provide two (2) supporting facts. An example of a situation which a company might

supporting fact is to become the number one retailer with a solid understanding of
how to set prices with an ultimate goal of achieving maximum profit as well as
market share objectives. 2nd supporting fact would be how to price, promote and
distribute products to customers. This involves identifying different groups of people

competitive potential. On the contrary, with regard to profit maximization a company
should adopt their objective by setting prices high with the intention of selling a
greater number of products to targeted individuals with the full intention of
generating the highest profits. Moreover, this kind of marketing and selling comes
with a high risk of failure if the product is priced to high, fewer products will be sold
ultimately losing money resulting in unsold excess

Persuasive Essay About Transgender
Have you ever thought you weren t who you re supposed to be? Have you ever
thought you weren t the right gender? Well trust me there are a lot of people like
you. There has been so much controversy about transgenders though. Many are
criticized and some even harm themselves. They are discriminated against and are
bullied by some. They are told they can t do certain things because they are
transgender. They are told they cant use a certain bathroom and cant join the army.
These are the struggles of transgenders.
Transgenders are being told they cant use the bathroom they want to. There is a
story about a MTF (male to female) six year old that was told that she cant use the
girls bathroom at school. For a year and a half, it wasn t an issue. But in December,
Coy s school informed her parents that she would no longer be permitted to use the
girls restroom. (From school to society, the intolerance transgender people face).
The bathroom, and more specifically the public restroom, is where the rights of
transgender people come into close proximity with the privacy rights of everyone.
The Supreme court took a case on October 28, 2016 about a FTM (female to male)
high school student who wanted to use the boys bathroom. They agreed with the
previous statement about the privacy of the bathrooms. (Transgender Bathroom
Issue: a Solution?). This has proof that it has happened to many people in schools
and can help many people who are struggling with this.

and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you . A judge

Tackling The Democratic Deficit Between The European
Union...
This essay seeks to identify, define and offer practical solutions to tackling the
democratic deficit which in the European Union (EU).
Apart from the economic issues plaguing the EU, which is most discussed topic, the
issue of its democratic deficiency remains undebated. Democracy deficit in the EU in
its ordinary meaning means that there is gap between the EU institutions and citizens
in the member states of the EU.
Recommendations have been put forward to bridge the gap between the EU s
institutions and the citizens in the member nations of the EU. These range from
empowering the national Parliament of member states to giving citizens more direct
voice in Europe.
A founding principle of the European Union is Subsidiarity. This is ... Show more

Accountability as a principle allows for people to hold the EU to account. Citizens
must be able to review the performance of those who make decisions. Giving the
power to find blame worthiness in the EU allows people to feel closer to governing
institutions and empowers them. It also has the potential to improve the policy
decisions of those in power.
Finally the principle of Engagement. Engagement should not only have to exist at
the voting booths and ballot boxes it should go beyond. For democracy to exist one
of the requirements is an election. However, elections without involving the
exchange of views between citizens and elected representatives, leads to a pseudo
democracy. This means there would exist alongside the institutions a form of
democracy however without any content. After all, by definition, Democracy is rule
by the people. The efficacy of a democratic system can therefore be measured by the
level of engagement and trust in it.
After establishing the four principles as the basis for examining the EU s
democratic performance, what s left to examine is how the EU falls short of
meeting these standards resulting it suffering from democracy deficit . The
democratic deficit is a well established concept (it was first coined by David
Marquand in 1979). In fact, it is even

How Does Robert Hayden Use Imagery In Those Winter
Sundays
Robert Hayden s poem, Those Winter Sundays , focuses in upon the narrator who
is looking back upon their younger years and their relationship with their father.
The poem then further elaborates on this concept, keeping it as the focal point of
the poem, through use of imagery. Robert Hayden uses imagery a great deal to
describe, in depth, not only the setting, but the very nature of the father and the
narrator s relationship. Parallels can be drawn between the use of imagery, the bitter
and frigid winter days, and the narrator s cold relationship with his father. Thus, by
exploring the use of imagery in the poem the father and narrator s relationship
becomes clearer. Warmth and coldness are two main pieces of imagery that are

Dbq Factory Workers
Did factory workers deserve to work in terrible conditions? During the 19th century
in a period referred to as the Gilded Age, industrial workers lived and worked in
horrible conditions due to overcrowding which clumped many in small areas,
pollution which ran rampant due to no regulations, and dangerous machinery which
was usually operated by children, who had small hands and were perfect for the
role. There were many factors which contributed to workers being put to work in
such horrible conditions and in a terrible economic position and those factors were
mostly corrupt government officials, unfair business practices, and because a huge
influx of immigrants. The first major factor which caused most of the economic
problems for industrial workers were corrupt government officials. These corrupt
officials would use their positions of power to do favors for those who controlled the
economy or as Mark Twain put it The chances are that a man cannot get into congress
now without resorting to arts and means that should render him unfit to go there. .

The reason why there were so many unfair practices were because there were no
regulations at the time which again as stated above was due to a corrupt
government. As J.P Morgan put it A man always has two reasons for doing
anything: a good reason and the real reason . What this means is that behind a
noble cause is a hidden agenda as was the case with almost every owner of big
businesses. One of the few exceptions was Andrew Carnegie who believed in giving
back to the community although for the most part this had no impact on the workers.
Even in modern times politicians and companies mask their true intentions behind
the facade of doing what is best for the working class the only difference is that
during the Gilded Age no one cared for industrial workers which is why they were
treated so

conducted an experiment with the intention of gaining a better understanding of the
development of norms and the effects of roles, labels, and social expectations in a
simulated prison environment. However, what professor Zimbardo was not
expecting, was just how much insight this study would provide into the psychologyof
individuals and social groups, as well as, the aggressiveness of human nature.
Participants in the study had responded to newspaper advertisements in the Palo Alto
Times and the Stanford Daily, which offered $15/day to male college students for a

This humiliation and minimization of individuality then continued with the issuing

Guards were given no specific instruction in how to behave and were instead told
they were free, within limits, to do anything necessary to maintain order. All guards
were dressed in identical uniforms and carried a whistle around their neck, a billy
club borrowed from the police, and mirrored sunglasses. This prevented anyone from
seeing their eyes or reading their emotions, and thus helped to further promote their
anonymity, as well as creating a strongly unified and defined authority. The situation
quickly escalated as the guards began to quickly assert this authority over the
prisoners and the prisoners easily joined together against their common enemy to
rebel. Once the guards again maintained order, all prisoners were stripped naked and
lost their

Nanotechnology In Michael Grant s Bug Man
BZRK, a novel by Michael Grant, is a science fiction story, about the misuse of
nanotechnology. In the novel BZRK, nanotechnology is used for negative reasons, by
the Armstrong Fancy Gift Corporation. This is an analogy of a world with
nanotechnology in a modern day era. The technology developed the ability to make
microscopic robots that can enter the human body through natural openings to change
structures at a molecular level. They created it for medical purposes, for example, to
send his tiny minions in to kill cancer cells (Grant, 72). Nanotechnologyis being
negatively used to take away freedom and chose for human beings. This good
technology is used the wrong way to control the human mind and commit murder.

Our Environment Analysis
In The Effects of Our Environment, Adler, Rosenfeld, and Towne explain that people
will act differently when they are in different environment. They summarized
different researches to show how people behave. In their researches, they found that
the decoration of the restaurant and the light and noise level would affect the
customer. In order To investigate how an environment affects, our group went to Ukai
and Wendy s, and did some observations of the environment and people who had meal
in there. We compare those two restaurants referring to the The Effects of Our
Environment .
Wendy s is the fast food establishment. We could see an order counter on the right
just after entering the store, and there was dining area on the left side. In the dining
space, about twenty light brown wooden tables were lined up. The space between
the tables was remarkably narrow. If I draw a chair a lot, people could not sit next to
it. The south, east, and west walls were large windows so you can be easily seen
by pedestrians from outside. The carpet was purple but it darkened by the sand and
dust. The chair was relatively soft, but the table s size and the height of the chair
made us uncomfortable. Especially the size of tables made it impossible to stay here
for a long time for doing some activities like studying.
There were lots of fluorescent lights on the ceiling, and large windows helped to
brighten the eating space. Inside the Wendy s, rock music was played at small
volume, but ventilating fan was noisy so we could barely hear the music. Since
ordering counter was in front of the eating space, we could hear people ordering.
Types of the customers were parents with young children, a group of young adults,
or middle aged people coming alone. Customers stayed at Wendy s only ten to
twenty minutes. One group ate hamburgers beside the counter without taking seats,
and the moment they finished eating, left quickly. Ukai Japanese steak house is a

Historical Accuracy of the Film Good Night Good Luck

The Movie good night good luck is incredibly historically accurate. The Movie uses
authentic clips that show McCarthy and many speeches Murrow used. World War

United States quickly set an anti communist stance and prepared for a war against the

Autumnal weather thanks to the new and highly efficient 12,500 ton Central Chiller
Plant (CCP) that uses water from the Hudson River to cool the WTC Transportation
Hub, National September 11 Memorial and Museum, retail space and other non
commercial areas.
Located in the far Southwest corner of the complex roughly in the same area as the
previous plant the CCP employs water extracted through the River Water Pump
Station on the other side of the West Side Highway, to chill (and heat, during the
Winter) water for distribution to the rest of the complex. It will circulate 30,000
gallons of river water every minute. That s enough to fill 750 bath tubs, flush 10,000
toilets, and cool the same amount as approximately 2,500 home air conditioners.
It uses the Hudson as a way of both dissipating heat and preheating water. Because
water below a certain depth is a pretty constant temperature, during the winter it takes
less energy to heat and circulate it, and conversely, in the summer it takes less to cool
it.
The new World Trade Center is already 75 percent old.

The Use of Various Forms of Power in an Export and
Import...
Export and import company: The use of various forms of power Working in an
export import business, I am continually reminded of the truth that power is not
something that is simply done by someone to someone else. According to French
and Raven s (1960), power exists in five fundamentally different forms: coercive,
reward based, legitimate, referent and expert related power (Straker 2012). The
ability of the leader to use such power depends on his or her position, personality,
and also the contextual nature of the relationship with the follower. For example,
although coercive power is often seen as a negative thing, given that it is a power
which is dependent upon force, it is sometimes necessary to use when a supplier is
not honoring his or her obligations to our organization. We must invoke the law and
the fact they are breaking a contract to see justice done. Coercive power is defined
as the power to force someone to do something against their will. It is often
physical although other threats may be used (Straker 2012). Coercive power, I
have found, is often ineffective within an organization, but can be necessary to use
when dealing with recalcitrant outside entities whom are not swayed by the other
types of power. A second form of power is reward based power (Straker 2012). This
is often used to motivate employees, particularly lower level employees. Most
employees work with their eye upon a paycheck to some extent, particularly in
occupations such as stocking

Anne Sullivan Research Paper
Anne Sullivan was born on 4/14/1866 in Feeding hills, Massachusetts. She was a
gifted and talented person who taught a school for the blind, this school was called,
Perkin s School for the Blind, and this is where she taught Helen Keller, a blind and
deaf student to communicate. This is a woman who made history for her actions and
helped a lot of people during her time before her death in 1936.
Anne Sullivan and her two surviving siblings grew up in impoverished conditions,
and struggled with health problems. Her parents were immigrants from Ireland
because of the recent famine that forced them to immigrate. At the early age of five,
Anne contracted an eye disease called trachoma, which severely damaged her sight.
Her mother, Alice, was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even at an early age, Sullivan had a strong willed personality. She sometimes clashed
with her father, Thomas, who was left to raise Sullivan and her siblings after their
mother s death. Thomas who was often abusive eventually abandoned the family.
Anne and her infirm younger brother, Jimmie, were sent to live at the Tewksbury
Almshouse, a home for the poor. Some reports say that Sullivan also had a sister
who was sent to live with relatives. Tewksbury Almshouse was dirty, rundown, and
overcrowded. These conditions made it difficult and often lead to the deaths of
several children, such as Sullivan s brother, Jimmie, who died just months after
they arrived there, leaving Anne alone. While at Tewksbury, Sullivan learned about
schools for the blind and became determined to get an education as a means to
escape poverty. She got her chance when members from a special commission
visited the home. After following the group around all day, she worked up the nerve
to talk to them about sending her to a special school. Sullivan left Tewksbury to
attend the Perkins School for the Blind in 1880, and underwent surgery to help
improve her limited vision. This did not help a lot, but did help a little

Triumph And Defeat Comparison
Triumph and defeat: two polar concepts, that result from a coin toss to wars that
devastate countries. Mankind has sought for success since their creation. Everyone
has found some success, some more, others less, and some defeat. The way that one
deals with triumph and, defeat has, and continues to create, change, and alter the
course of history. Dealing with triumph is generally easier than dealing with defeat.
Before I can describe how I deal with triumph, we must first define it. According to
the Merriam Webster Dictionary, triumph is a notable success. But let us define it
further. There are two kinds of triumph: triumph at another s loss, or triumph at no
one s loss. The way I deal with triumph at another s loss depends on the
circumstance. When I win a board game, I secretly rejoice, but try to be a... Show

Although you cannot always control defeat (just like triumph) triumph usually
works in your favor, but defeat rarely does. In order for me to explain how I deal
with defeat, I must first define defeat. Defeat, simply put, is failing to reach the
goal. While there are also two kinds of defeat, they are dealt with in a similar
manner. Defeat is dealt with depending on the circumstances. For example, when I
lose a board game, I try to keep calm and not make a fuss, the same as when I lose a
race, contest or any competition of any form. However, if I cannot complete a task
within a given time, or fail to comprehend information after much explaining, I am
quickly frustrated. When ever I would lose something as a result of defeat. I try as
hard as I can to meet the goal, but if I cannot, I am deeply upset. Triumph and defeat
are commonly experienced in our everyday lives. Although dealing with them
correctly is rarely easy, the more experience one has in life, the better one becomes,
and the better one becomes as a person, the better one can deal with triumph and

Loss Of A Loved One Essay
If I were to conduct research on a Sociological Topic that is applicable to my own

entire lifetime. On the other hand, I have been affected by the passing of loved
ones since I can remember. Case in point, just over the past couple of years I have
lost upwards of 8 people I was very close with. Furthermore, I currently have three
different people whom I am close with battling terminal cancer. When I think of my

In order to create a study to determine whether or not the way people grieve death
changes after they have been affected more than once by the loss of a loved one, I
would start by creating a survey. On this survey I would ask the gender of the
individual taking the survey, the current age of the individual, how old the
individual was when they first experienced a loved one passing away, how many
people they ve lost in their lifetime that they were particularly close with, what
their initial reaction to the passing of their loved one was compared to their
reaction after losing more than one loved one, and how their reaction has changed
as time passes since the loved one(s) passed away. I may also include the question
of what the relationship was between the individual taking the survey and the
individual who passed away. It would be my hope that this survey reached
individuals from all different backgrounds, ages, cultures, and so on to ensure a
variety of people were surveyed to eliminate any biases that may occur. Once I had

Essay on Paying College Athletes
Should college athletes get paid more money?
There has been a constant debate the past few years on whether college athletes,
particularly football players, should get paid. In 1988, the Nebraska legislature
passed a bill that would allow the University of Nebraska football players to
receive better cash incentives. The bill was later vetoed by Governor Kay Orr, who
was governor of Nebraska at the time (O Toole etal. 2). . The dispute comes from
coaches, parents of the players, and the players themselves arguing that universities
make money off their own athletes and the athletes, in turn, do not receive any money
from that. Many NCAA officials disagree stating their case that college athletes

But the bill is getting exploited by NCAA rules and by the official in the Big 12.
According to Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg, the bill, if passed in Nebraska,
has a slim chance of passing in other states that has schools in the Big 12. He
states, At this point, I know of no other state legislative activity that relates to a bill
like this (cite). Weiberg expands on how he is not alone in this decision by saying,
Our presidents and chancellors have been uniformly opposed to any plan that would
give the appearance of play for pay (O Toole etal. 2). With these statements it seems
like Chambers doesn t have good position in getting the bill passed, but the bill can
initiate an argument saying that if college athletes do not get paid, the temptation of
illegal consumption of money by athletes could rise.
In agreeing with Weiberg, Wally Renfro, who is an assistant to NCAA president
Myles Brand, states, It (the bill) shouldn t happen for two reasons. One is
philosophical. It s not the model of intercollegiate athletics. Second, it s impractical.
They re basically talking, I think, about paying football players. I don t think that s
going to stand the test of a court challenge from students who play basketball or
students who play baseball or students in the tennis

Essay On Periodic Swarms
Periodic spatiotemporal swarms mining periodic swarms, even though there are some
redundant periodic swarms. To solve this problem we use parsimonious periodic
swarm mining method which is more efficient and effective. In the Figure
ef{example6}(a), we see that periodic swarms $(\left\{o_1, o_2ight\}, \left\{T_1,
T_3ight\}, L_1)$ and $(\left\{o_1, o_2ight\}, \left\{T_2, T_3ight\}, L_1)$ are
subsumed by the periodic swarms $(\left\{o_1, o_2ight\}, \left\{T_1, T_2,
T_3ight\}, L_1)$. Thus, we reduce redundant periodic swarms and find significant
parsimonious periodic swarms in the Figure ef{example6}(b). egin{figure}[htp]

Therefore, the closed swarms are not greater than the number of long time
spatiotemporal swarms. Furthermore, mining parsimonious periodic swarms we use
periodic swarms according to the definitions ef{ps} and ef{parsimonious}.
Parsimonious periodic swarms subsumed periodic swarms. If any swarms are not
subsumed by other swarms, then the number of parsimonious periodic swarms
equal to the number of periodic swarms, i.e., $|PPS|^{swarms}\leq |PS|^{swarms}$.
Contrariwise, if some periodic swarms subsumed by other periodic swarms, then the
number of parsimonious periodic swarms is less than the number of periodic
swarms that cause $|PPS|^{swarms} |PS|^{swarms}$. egin{myex} Suppose,
$min_{object}$ = 2, $min_{time}$ = 2, then the Figure ef{example1}(d) and
Figure ef{example1}(f) shows the number of long time spatiotemporal swarms is
16. After mining closed swarms from long time spatiotemporal swarms in Figure
ef{example3}(b) depicts the number is 11 that is less than 16. Then, we mine 13
periodic swarms in the Figure ef{example4}(b) that is less than 16 long time
swarms. Finally, in the Figure ef{example6}(b) we find 11 parsimonious swarms
from the periodic swarms. Even though the number of closed swarms and
parsimonious periodic swarms are equal in

Gamma rays are the most interesting wave in the electromagnetic spectrum. In 1900,
Paul Villard discovered Gamma rays unexpectedly while he was conducting a
radioactivity experiment (ARPANSA). He differentiated gamma rays from x rays
because he realized that gamma rays had a greater penetration power depth through
his further study and research (ARPANSA). Gamma radiation studies revealed that
they are very dangerous, but scientist also found a way to protect against gamma
radiation and many beneficial usages.

The research logically proved that if a person was farther away from the radiation,
they would be affected less by the bombing. The research clearly revealed why a
high dose of gamma radiation was dangerous because the bombs and explosions
immediately killed people, and had many ways to destroy person s health.
Unlike high dose of gamma radiation, a small dose of radiation had a significant
and negative effects on the victims in China. This study strongly proved that
gamma radiation negatively affected the health because the accidental Ir 192
gamma radiation caused a variety of cancer even with small doses of radiation: .05
.65 Gy (Li). Iridium 192 is a radioactive isotope that has a half life of 73.82 days
which means that these radiations may occur rapidly. Also, the victims who were
exposed to this radiation had limited knowledge that certain machinery expelled the
gamma radiation (Li). 54 people were conducted on a 10 year test to check their
health. The method was very simple because the researchers gathered and then
studied blood samples, bone marrow, and their T cell subsets (Li). The results
revealed basic clinical symptoms such as an increase in dizziness, fatigue, memory
loss, insomnia for 90.7 % of the people in the first month, but as time passed by, the

Langston Hughes Biography Essay
Langston Hughes is regarded as one of the most significant American authors of the
twentieth century. Foremost a poet, he was the first African American to earn a
living solely from his writings after he became established. Over a forty year career
beginning in the 1920s until his death in 1967, Hughes produced poetry, plays,
novels, and a variety of nonfiction. He is perhaps best known for his creation of the
fictional character, Jesse B. Semple, which first appeared in a Chicago Defender
newspaper column in 1943. Hugheswritings focused mainly on the lives of plain
black people and show their beauty, wisdom, and strength to overcome social and

In late 1924, following travel abroad, Hughes returned to the United States with
little money. He joined his mother and younger brother at the home of relatives in
the premier black residential area of Washington, LeDroit Park. They stayed in the
1900 block of 3rd Street, NW and later moved to an apartment, located at 1749 S
Street. There was another reason for Hughes presence in Washington. Though he
would earn a degree from Lincoln University (PA) in 1929, he really wanted to attend
Howard University. Saving enough money for tuition became his goal.
Shortly after his arrival in the City, Hughes sought a position as a page at the
Library of Congress, but Washington s black leaders were unsuccessful in landing
him this choice position. Hughes accepted an advertising job at the black weekly,
the Washington Sentinel, but quit the paper shortly after because of poor pay. He
then took a job at a laundromat. During his leisure hours, he spent time on 7th Street,

eating barbecue and fish sandwiches. Seventh Street residents were poor but

Ignorance In Flowers For Algernon By Charlie Gordon
All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure. Mark
Twain. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. People on occasion, are happier being ignorant.
In the novel Flowers For Algernon, the main character Charlie Gordon, seems happier
being dumb or ignorant. However, people disagree with the fact that ignorancecan
sometimes be better and stand with the opinion that knowledgeis always beneficial. In
reality, ignorance can sometimes be helpful to people.
In actuality, ignorance is quite advantageous. For example, little kids believe Santa
Claus is real and are ignorant to the fact that their parents are buying them presents,
until their parents tell them. Another example includes kids in other countries.
Take for example kids in South Africa. Kids in South Africa will most likely never
have an Iphone 7, fancy expensive clothes, or have even basic privileges, such as
going to school or having a hot shower. Although these kids will never experience
experiences that kids in America have, they are still content with what they have,
because they are ignorant to the fact that superior conditions exist. An additional
example is Frederick Douglass, an American slave. He learned to read, write and

also ignorance being blissful. A final example is a dog that loves the park and is

The Ever Changing Field Of Film Essay
The Ever Changing Field of Film The world of film has changed dramatically over
the years and will likely continue to change along with technological and
professional developments. Like many modern innovations, film has changed
substantially over a rather short period of time, from black and white movies to
modernized color films. Still, it is impressive to think how far filmhas come, and
looking back into the near past affords an appreciation of the technology that no
longer exists. Thus my viewing experiences towards film have tremendously
changed in recent years as I have become more and more immersed in its world. I
am not old enough to recall silent movies, but I most certainly remember black and
white movies that my parents used to watch on TV. In the 1980s, I always
wondered why some broadcasts were black and white, especially when I switched
to another channel that had color broadcasting. Personally, the only black and
white TV show that I used to watch was The Three Stooges (Ray McCarey, 1934).
I enjoyed watching this show for its funny slapstick action; however I did not
enjoy watching it in black and white, as my focus was primarily on the main
characters and not the scenery or objects around them. Several years later, this sort
of viewing became a thing of the past because black and white films became less
accessible in either television or movies. Conversely, the advent of computer
generated imagery, known as CGI, has changed the

Designing an Exoskeleton Robotic Arm
It was believed that the decisive factor for designing a robotic arm is its
inexpensiveness and friendly interfacing with the user. Teleoperated master slave
anthropomorphic robotic arm with the single axis revolute joints having six degree of
freedom was designed [13]. The master used the human machine interface (HMI) to
operate in RTOS. The master incorporated the motion capture devices, such as vision
sensors to transform the motion into analog voltages so as to actuate the exoskeleton
robotic arm. The human machine interface comprised of GUI (Graphical User
Interface) system, an Exoskeleton Robotic Arm and a Mode selector which enabled
the operator to choose among the three modes of operation (manual, autonomous and
semi autonomous).
We humans are companionable with the amorphous environment which is the
principal benefit of advancement of Exoskeleton robots in the field of teleoperation.
The 6 DOF exoskeleton enables the robot to elevate and shift items anywhere in
space. A 6 DOF exoskeleton is very analogous to homo sapiens in regards to no. and
joints position. The limitation of this model was inadequate precision because of the
non linearity and mechanical coupling of the joints. [13]
Nakai implemented a human interface technique using force feedback mechanism
attached to the operator s hand and named it Sensor Arm System [5]. The arm served
the basis of the Master Slave manipulator system in Teleoperation. The arm with
which he experimented had 7 DOF same as that

European History as Told Through Diaghilevs Rite of
Spring...
Many often associate the 19th Century with old fashioned ideas and customs,
whereas the 20th Century is seen as the modern era . So where in between these
two extremes can historians label a turning point as the end of one era, and the start
of another? Modris Eksteins offers his view in Rites of Spring, where he uses the
Russian ballet of the same name as a metaphor for the changing society during the
World War I era. Eksteins views Germany as being the most modern nation in Europe
, despite the outcome of the war, and sees its characteristics in the ballet, with Serge
Diaghilev as the ringmaster behind it all. Diaghilev brings the ideas and talent of the
blossoming Russiato Paris in 1913 with the premiere of Le Sacre du printempes. Even

Germany also rushed into war as a way to prove them as a capable new entity on
the European map. It glorified war to its youth as being a speedy rite of passage
for young men where they would be able to get shipped off to war so as to gain
manhood, and return to their families in a matter of a few weeks. However this
was incredibly unrealistic in every sense once the war started heating up; many
would be gone for long periods of time and possibly not return at all. Going to war
was glorified to such an extreme extent in Germany and was the cause for the greatest
loss of life in history in what is now called the Lost Generation . While Germany
thought its antagonistic actions in war were justified in supporting their modern
views and ideas, old fashioned Britain felt their behavior was warranted in that they
were trying to defend the old regime that had dominated Western Europe for
centuries. Another changing aspect of culture in the early 20th Century is the morals
and values of the people. There became an increasing value in individualism and
doing things for oneself rather than glory. One example of this was when Charles
Lindbergh successfully landed in Paris after flying across the Atlantic Ocean by
himself. He was considered a hero amongst the people because he achieved his goal
for himself rather than for his country or God. This idea was evident even more after
the publication of Erich Maria Ramarque s All Quiet on

Campus Shootings Essay
College Campuses in the Line of Sight
We all hear about mass shooting where a number of people are killed and we pray
that we are never caught in a situation like the one at Virginia Tech or Oikos
University. But the likelihood that it happens at your school, your kids school, or
your friends school is at an all time high. From 2000 to 2010 nearly 70 people were
killed in college campus shootings in the United States. This number more than
doubles the number of killing from the 25 years prior to 2000. Not only are their
more shooting but there are a proliferating number of sexual assaults happening on
college campuses, in 2009 alone the number of sexual assault on college campuses
was nearly 2,600 (Arrigo 120). This combined with mass media coverage has
generated passionate debates on how to best stop mass shootings and other violent
crimes on college campuses. Many pro gun activists have started to push for and
endorse bills allowing students and faculty to conceal carry handguns on campuses.
Campus carry is a relatively new phenomenon and there is little to no evidence to
corroborate the idea that it increases campus security. Those who have not gone
through rigorous instructional courses, like police officers, will be unable to stop a
mass shooting, sexual assaults, or other violent crimes on college campuses. Instead,
allowing students to carry will increase crime rates on campuses and will result in
more fatalities due to guns(Ultius). This is why students should not be

the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ he destroyed the power of sin and death,
and brought new life to the world. To this day, us, Christians believe there is a life
after death because we were saved by Jesus. We believe our souls live on entirely
with God, where we came from, even when our body dies. This is because Jesusrose
from the dead three days after his crucifixion and we believe that we will also be
raised from death to new life like Jesus did, if we follow Jesus teachings and ways,
God and eternal life awaits us in heaven.
As the following quotes prove:
Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even ...

John 3:16
After someone has died his or her life here on earth is celebrated by having a funeral.
Near the end of the funeral the coffin is taken from the church, either for burial or
cremation.
In the Apostle s Creed it says, I believe in ... the resurrection of the body . However,
St Paul said that, On earth it is a physical body but in heaven it will be a spiritual
body . Therefore, today it is often just a personal decision as to whether a person is
buried or cremated. How ever what happens to the persons soul after the funeral is the
big question.
Hell or Heaven
Many Christians have different ideas of what happens in heaven and hell as it is
rarely described in the bible. Some/ most Christians such as me believe that
Heaven is a place where our souls can live on in peace and just with God. Where
our lives we have lived on earth are not judge but accepted, and our sins are
forgiven. As far as I believe, anyone has the pass to get into Heaven for us long as
they believe and have trust in God no matter how many sins they have committed,
God will always be there open handed waiting for us, arms wide, and when we are
ready we can openly hearted walk mentally into the heart to God (heaven) freeing our

Gender Roles In Oscar Wilde s The Importance Of Being
Earnest
Oscar Wilde was an Irish poet born in October 1854. In 1871, Wilde enrolled at
Trinity College in Dublin. The years from 1874 1878 were spent at Magdalen
College, Oxford, where he received a first class degree in Classics and the
Newdigate Prize for poetry with his poetry submission of Ravenna. (Bloom 11).
Wilde was married to a daughter of a wealthy Irish barrister in 1884, and had two
sons in the following years. (Bloom 11). Before he died in November 1900, he
wrote several plays, including The Importance of Being Earnest. There are several
themes placed throughout Wilde s The Importance of Being Earnest, such as: gender
roles, loveand marriage, and society v. hypocrisy. Gender roles are an important
theme placed in The Importance of Being Earnest. The feminist movement has
already been in full swing. Women already moved in the path of education. With
the considerable level of education, women have already started toward the
direction of freedom. (Bachelor and Master). In the play, Cecily has a governess
hired by Mr. John Worthing educating her to become more successful on her own.
Wilde presented Lady Bracknell talking about the position of men. She says, in her
talk with Gwendolen house is the proper place for man. . . . This bit of
conversation reveals women have also begun to move freely in the occupational
world. (Bachelor and Master). Prism is used by Wilde, in the play, as an awakened
woman who serves as a governess to Cecily, who writes novels. Wilde averted to
see the limitations of the feminist movement. Feministically awakened and educated
women to cling to more job of governess. (Bachelor and Master). Miss Prism is used
as a symbol of feminism used by Wilde in The Importance of Being Earnest to show
that women were on the move in life advancements. In the play, Cecily and
Gwendolen discuss changing their gender roles in their conversation about male
domesticity, indicating that their belief that homes seems to be the proper sphere for
the man. Marriage, however, remained most women s primary goal and occupation.
Arranged marriages had been on the decline since the late eighteenth century, but
were not unknown among the Victorian upper class. (Bachelor and Master). LADY
BRACKNELL.

The Water Systems At Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, And
Mckinney...
Our study determined how detrimental pet activity is on the environment, more
specifically the water systems at Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, and McKinney Falls. My
hypothesis was the if there is human and pet activity near water ways, there will be
an increase in algae boom and chlorophyll a concentration because bacteria body
material, and feces of the dog affects the water s health. Our results did not agree with
our hypothesis because Chlorophyll a concentration was higher at McKinney Falls,
where there was the most pet activity, and lower at Bulls Creek, even though pets
were allowed also. Additionally, the Wild Basin, where there were no pets allowed,
had samples with an unexpectedly high chlorophyll a concentration compared to the
samples from Bulls Creek. Other factors including canopy cover, and urban runoff
could have also altered water quality.
I infer that the water quality was affected more by other factors. The two sites with
about the same amount of human activity were McKinney Falls State Park and Bulls
Creek. On the other hand, Wild Basin swimming is not allowed. Our results showed
that the order from greatest to least amount of nitrate and phosphorous concentration
was Bulls Creek, McKinney Falls, and Wild Basin at the lowest. Hence, because
Bulls Creek was had the high amounts of human activity and nitrate and phosphorous
levels, this relates
Moreover, urban runoff highest at Bulls Creek, which has parking lots, highways, and
buildings nearby, and also houses
