Initial assessment Assess the newborn airway breathing and circulation check the newborn weight and overall condition Procedure
Drying and stimulation Dry the newborn thoroughly dry the face , head neck and back
Airway clearance 1- 2 minutes Clean the airway by suctioning or using a syringe use a laryngoscope to visualise the airway if necessary Airway clearance 1-2 minutes
Oxygen administration (2-5 minutes) Provide oxygen is the newborn is experience respiratory distress or has a low heart rate use a pulse oximeter to monitor oxygen saturation
Ventilation 5- 10 minutes Provide ventilation using a bag valve mass device Use endotrachial tube use a CO2 detector to monitor ventilation
Chest compression (10 -15 )minutes Perform chest compression if the newborn heart rate remain below 60 beats per minute use a 3:1 compression
Medications Administor Epinephrine if the newborn heart rate remains below 60 beats per minute dispute a liquid ventilation and chest compression use Naloxone the newborn is experience respiratory distress due to maternal opioid uses
Post Resucsitation care Continuously monitor the newborn vital sign including heart rate respiration rate and oxygen saturation provide warm and maintain a stable body temperature Support and promote breast feeding
