PNEUMATIC TYRE MADE BY VENKATESH

CONTENTS INTRODUCTION TO PNEUMATIC TYRE . WHAT IS PNEUMATIC TYRE ? WORKING OF PNEUMATIC TYRE . TYPES OF PNEUMATIC TYRE . ADVANTAGES . DISADVANTAGES . APPLICATIONS .

INTRODUCTION Robert William Thomson (1822–1873)  invented  the actual first vulcanized rubber  pneumatic  (inflatable)  tyre . Thomson patented his  pneumatic tyre  in 1845, and while his invention worked well, but it was too costly to catch on

WHAT IS PNEUMATIC TYRE? Pneumatic tyre is a tyre which is made of an air tight inner core filled with pressurized air. The pressure of the air inside the tyre is greater than the atmospheric air pressure, so the tyre remains inflated even when the weight of vehicle resting on it. It gives the certain degree of cushioning effect as the tyre hits bumps in the road.

WORKING OF PNEUMATIC TYRE . As we know, a pneumatic, or air-filled, tire is made of an airtight inner core filled with pressurized air. A tread, usually reinforced with steel belting or other materials, covers this inner core and provides the contact area with the road while driving. The tyre remains inflated while driving due to high pressure inside the tyre . The tyre air pressure provides resistance against forces that try to deform the tyre while driving. If we have ever taken a ride in an old-fashioned carriage with wooden wheels , we will come to know what difference a pneumatic tyre makes.

TYPES OF PNEUMATIC TYRE There are mainly two types 1.Air pneumatics 2.solid pneumatics Air pneumatics are filled with air while the solid pneumatics are made of rubber and more puncture proof.

ADVANTAGES Some of the advantages are it is able to, Move large loads. Absorb shock. Go offroad . Reduce noice . And also it is economic.

DISADVANTAGES Some of the disadvantage are , It is not puncture or blowout proof. Blowout at high speed can lead to dangerous car accident. Variations in air pressure changes tire performance. It can blowout by gunfire or explosion.

APPLICATIONS Pneumatic tyres are used in , Lorries distributing goods. Motorbikes , Bicycles. Forklift trucks. Agricultural vehicles. Emergency service vehicles such as , ambulances, police cars , fire engines. Automatic guided vehicles.
