Entrepreneurship development programs in india Realizing the initial problems of entrepreneurs after independence , government decided to offer promotional packages Entrepreneurs possess certain competencies or traits. These traits can be innate (in-born) in the entrepreneurs or these can be induced or developed. Considering that EDPs can induce motivation and competence among the young prospective entrepreneurs, the Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation (GIIC), first time started a three months training program on entrepreneurship development in 1969. Impressed by success of GIIC, the Government of India in 1971, embarked on a massive program on entrepreneurship development. Now, almost all the states conduct EDPs Now-a-days, the government of India is more emphasizing on skill development and entrepreneurship development program through vocational education.
Edp aims enabling a person to Develop and strengthen the entrepreneurial qualities. Analyze environmental set up relating to business. Select the product, design detailed proposal and examine its feasibility. Set or reset objectives for enterprise and strive for their realization. Understand the process and procedure involved in setting up a small enterprise. Arrange necessary resources. Acquire the necessary managerial for effective running enterprise
About National Institute of Small Industry Extension Training NISIET
NISIET, as it is known today, came into being in 1960 as Central Institute of Small Industry Extension Training (CISIET) at New Delhi. It was decided to keep it free from the tardy and impeding administrative controls and procedures, so that the Institute can play a pivotal role in the promotion of small enterprise. Therefore the Institute was shifted to Hyderabad in 1962, and was registered as an autonomous society under the Public Societies Registration Act, and was renamed as the Small Industry Extension Training (SIET) Institute. History
SIET, as it was fondly known for over two decades later, is managed by a Governing Council, appointed by the Government of India. The Founder-Chairman of SIET is Dr P.C. Alexander, the then Development Commissioner (Small Scale Industries). It was in 1984 that the UNIDO had recognized SIET as an institute of meritorious performance under its Centers of Excellence Scheme to extend aid. Subsequently, it was also accorded national status and SIET Institute became nisiet in the same year..
about NISET is a pioneer Institute in enterprise promotion. It is an organization of the Ministry of Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries, Government of India. The nisiet was registered at Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh under Public Societies Registration Act I of 1350 Fasli with effective from 1st July 1962. Its main goal is to give extension training to the small scale industries all over India NISIET works under National institute for micro, smaal , medium enterprises(NI-MSME) under the GOVT OF INDIA
NISIET set up in the early 1950s has been imparting training to entrepreneurs, managwers and varoious development functionaries of the state governments, financial institutions and other agencies NISIET organizes about national level and 15 international programmes every year It also acts as an important resource and information centre for small units and under takes research and consultancy for small industry devlopment
However, by the early 1990s, NISIET had lost its position as a premier training institute for various reasons. Some of reasons were The fight of faculty to other institutes The poor infrastructure and competition from other training institutes. In the late 1990s, a new Principal Director was appointed and he brought about various changes in the organization. All these changes resulted in the turnaround of NISIET
